We booked our holiday through Select Sites (U.K.) Having read other reports, it seemed ok. We arrived on Sunday the 16th. of July and stayed for 12 nights. Entrance to the site and up to the reception is fine, we booked in with the caravan and were told that a member of staff would be with us in 15 minutes to connect the electricity. 45 minutes later in blistering heat and I returned to reception a little irate, but this was rectified immediately. It's the first hour that you remember the most! The site is mature with a one way system with small areas holding about 10 units (tents, caravans, motorhomes) The toilet facilities were clean and considering they only had 2 showers we never queued once, always found to be clean, apart from the ladies not having soap for washing hands for three days we found nothing to complain about. Once set up we explored the site and went to the restaurant for a snack and a drink, the service and the food was excellent and we ate there most evenings, never cooked for ourselves once. The following morning I went into reception and purchased a 10 ticket bus pass for 8 euros, this gave us 10 journeys into the city of Gent. During July there is the Gent Festeen, which is the largest music festival in Europe, which had all types of music from a young girl playing her violin solo to full orchestras, and on top of this there was street entertainment all over the city.
On returning to the site in the evening we would firstly go to the lake, which had golden sand and only a few hundred metres from the site to cool down, the site was used by the locals.
In hindsight, would we go back again, most definately. Would I recommend "Camping Blaarmeersen" to my friends. YES.
