“Not worth visiting.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

It´s a railway station so if you are traveling by train you will pass there. If you are just staying in Ghent as a tourist it is not worth going there just to visit the building as there are much moor interesting historical buildings to visit close to the city center than the station.

“NBMS rail station, under redevelopment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

This station is clearly being rebuilt along with a major redevelopment by Infrabel / NMBS of the route from Gent to Brugge, but the temporary access to platform 12 for trains to Oostende, Knokke & Blankenberge is well signed, as is the rest of the station.

The station building is a lovely piece of architecture, and when you leave the station the tram connections are right outside.

One note is that some of the existing platforms are quite low, making quite a step up to the trains.

“Beautiful and easy to navigate”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

This is one of the most beautiful train stations we have visited. It's beautifully restored, and the platforms are easy to navigate. Our only navigating difficulties came when we left the station to take a tram to downtown - it was hard to find where the tram stop was!

“Beautiful - and great burgers outside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

I was astounded when I first arrived at this station because of the beautiful paintings on the ceilings and walls. Exiting the station also treated me to the sight of its magnificent exterior, which was unfortunately difficult to capture nicely in photos due to the busy movement of commuters going in and out of the station.

But what I loved most about this station was the fact that parked just outside, was a blue "Buysse Mobiele Snacks" van from which I bought the most amazing burger ever for just 3.30 euros. They also sold escargots and bratwursts, but the burger just made my day. Absolutely delicious, no charge for sauces (choose whatever you like), with a tender chicken/pork patty and caramelized onions. It was so good I had another on my way out of Ghent.
