“Our nice days in Ghent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2014

Breakfast was nice especially when served in the garden when weather allowed. Easy to find and on site parking. Our room was in a secondary building not as nice as the main house. Easy tram or longer walk to city center. Beautiful city and worth the stay outside the city center. Staff is very helpful indeed.

Room Tip: Main building in the back on upper floor.

We stayed at the Astoria for 3 nights and were very happy with our stay. The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating and helped us with planning a great visit to Ghent.

The location is good as it is easy to get into the city and also to get to the station if you want to visit Bruges, Brussels or Antwerp. (Bruges is just 30 mins away). The only down side with being so close to the station is that you could hear the trains at night. To be fair we were given earplugs and with the windows closed you couldn't hear much, but as it was summer we needed to have the Windows open. If you are a light sleeper I would suggest Asking for a room facing the back if possible.

The room was clean, had tea and coffee making facilities, a comfortable bed, good bathroom, safe, mini-bar and digital tv. Really good facilities, my only suggestion would be to change the pillows as they are quite high.

The breakfast was excellent and there was a good selection of continental breakfast options including fresh breads, cereals, home-,made yogurt, pastries, juice, fresh coffee and meats and cheeses. If the weather is nice you can have breakfast out in the garden which is really nice!

Overall a great stay and we loved Ghent, what a beautiful city! Thanks to the Astoria staff for making our trip an enjoyable and memorable one.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the back if you're a light sleeper

Quiet and comfortable hotel with a good breakfast including home-made yoghurt (which you can curiously only enjoy from 8:30). Couldn't hear the railway and enjoyed a nice walk to and from the splendid old town centre of Ghent in the evening.

We stayed here for three nights - two facing the nice secluded garden, one facing the street. Both rooms were good. Yes, in the street facing one you could hear the trains, but it didn't bother us. Much quieter than a typical city centre hotel, and much more pleasant.

Number 1 tram stop is about five minutes walk away, then ten minutes into city centre. Or you could walk into the centre along the river - about thirty minutes.

Breakfast was good, and the manager, Frank, was extremely helpful.

Overall excellent value.

Room Tip: The Classical+ rooms face the garden. The rooms facing the street are closer to the train line. Prob...

15 min from town centre. Clean rooms, continental breakfast. Parking available. Friendly staff. We had bathroom with a Jacuzzi - recommend after a long drive. Best way to travel in Gent is by tram. Tram station is just 10 min away.

The best is the location (close to St Pieters station and in a very quiet neighbourhood). People of the stuff are very kind and very profesional. Rooms are very comfortable. Only breakfast, but it was very complete.
