“Great for families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014 via mobile

Great hotel. Near to motorway so we used it as a stop on the way back to Calais. Staff were great. Both of our children (3 and 1yrs old) were tired and had big 'melt downs' in the restaurant. Staff (Sandra) were so lovely and helpful. Our 3 yr old loved the sofabed in our room. Very family friendly hotel.

A basic hotel on the outskirts of Ghent .Staff very helpful and friendly .Well positioned for forward journey .Super buffet breakfast .Satallite tv had some English chanels.Don't go here expecting views or quaintness just good value easy stay.
Recommend the restuarant which gave 10% discount for guests and children ate free.We had the buffet at 22.5 euros each there was lots of nice food to choose from!
Although it is out of town(30 mins walk) it is worth walking at least once as the arcetecture of the houses are interesting. Also a 20 min walk gets you to the tram and with a day ticket,5 euros,This is a great way to see the city which is lovely and better than Brugess

Room Tip: Try and get a high floor .we were on the second and stared at an ugly wall.

Stayed here on a Saturday night in late January. The hotel is very close to the motorway, so is very good choice to use as a stopover when traveling.

The hotel has a very large car park spanning the front and side of the hotel, which has plenty of parking spaces. I wasn't charged for parking, which I'm not sure if was a one-off, or whether they no longer charge.

The reception area was welcoming and the staff were friendly and pleasant when I checked in.

The bedroom was large and clean, with the thermostat set an appropriate setting seeing as it was cold and stormy weather outside!

The bathroom was of usual Holiday Inn Express standard - no bath, just a shower. It was immaculately clean with plenty of towels available.

Breakfast the next morning was busy, but there was an ample amount of tables available to sit at. The standard European breakfast fare was available, which was fresh and replenished regularly.

I didn't get to spend enough time in this medieval city, so I will definitely be back to see the sights and will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Second stay and front desk personnel continue to impress...during last overnight, Laurence(sp?) went out of his way to provide outstanding service. Pull out bed was perfect for the kids. Perfect location to visit sites in Belgium. Breakfast was good, room was clean and comfortable - would definitely stay here again.

nice hotel, comfortable rooms ideal for family with kids bit cut off from center so car rental is necessary but very well located if you want to visit other parts of Belgium very good access to high ways, hotel restaurant expensive but do not try the campanile hotel restaurant next door menu no choice and disappointing. the bar of hotel very unfriendly staff otherwise all hotel staff were nice especially the room attendants extremely helful

Room Tip: you need a car rental but its good for family, value for money and comfort

Very nice hotel, soft beds the pullout not as much. For a American family living abroad it was comfortable. The breakfast was very good a typical European style but plenty of items. At the desk during check in we even got a free ticket for a drink at the bar on site, I mentioned we were going into Ghent to the Gravesteen and the gentlemen gave us free passes to get in as well. Reasonably priced and located central to many areas.

We were travelling back to UK from germany and stopped here as it was just of the motorway. The Guy at Reception, Brett (?) was too good to be true. Very kind, super helpful... Our 5 year old had a mouth infection and couldnt eat no solids. We arrived on 1.1., nothing open, late at night.. He got her joghurts out the kitchen and looked after us with Pizza delivery and all... AMAZING. The room is massive, clean, tidy and very reasonabled priced... This is gonna be our stop again on our next Trip. Really happy! Family of 4...
