“Fantastic local food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012 via mobile

Beautiful building in the old part of gent. Food was fantastic. I had the waterzooi which is a gent speciality and my husband had the Flemish beef stew which he said was amazing.
Service was good, portions were huge and prices reasonable.

“Busy, cosy brasserie. Good value for Ghent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

We went at 8pm on a Wednesday. It was busy but we got a table. We went for the 3 course set menu, at €35 each including wine. To start with we had asparagus. I followed this with onglet (hanger steak), with salad and fries. My wife had the salmon, which came with potatoes vegetables and parsley sauce. For dessert I had profiteroles, my wife had a yogurt sorbet with grand marnier. All simple, home-style brasserie cooking, very well executed. The wine was fine too.

“Good food and a cosy location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2012

We had a really good meal here and, if you are upstairs, there is also a great view. Some problems with translating the menu (specials board) but staff were really helpful

“Good for us but not so much for others”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

We visited the clock house on recommendation from a friend, the menu was a little less traditional than we thought it might be but what others were eating looking good; both of us had beef dishes and they were pretty good and the portions were incredibly generous.

Unfortunately part way through the evening the staff went from fairly cheerful to essentially hiding away from the customers, people sat either side of us waited 45-60 minutes for their mains and when they asked where they were, the waiter simply grunted "you have to wait".

Overall I probably wouldn't return, even though our experience was okay in comparison.

We ate here twice during our stay. Staff very helpful, explaining dishes etc. good efficient service, good choice on menu, and food was excellent. Lovely quaint building and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend this.
