“Good lquality albeit slightly pricy.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2014

The location of this hotel is right beside a tram stop which makes it good for those arriving by train. Typical IBIS - clean compact rooms. Staff were helpful. Minimal use of hotel bar - which was pleasant & appeared to be getting good custom from residents - and didnt take breakfast there as it was expensive. Overall no reason to complain.

Stayed at this Hotel for a couple of nights to break up our journey. We were on our way to a classic car show in Germany and booked this particular hotel for its secure underground parking. The entrance to the car park was round the back of the hotel, with a roller shutter door. By speaking to reception on the intercom, we were allowed access straight away. The car park cost €30 for the two nights, but we were happy to pay this knowing our car was safe. The Hotel was in a great location. They supplied us with a free tourist map to guide us round the places of historical interest. The room we had was at the front of the hotel. There is a tram stop right outside, but it wasn't particularly noisy, however, you could feel a vibration when one went past. The room was fine and nice and warm. The bed was very comfortable. We didn't use the bar at all as we wanted to try the many bars in Gent. We also opted not to have breakfast either morning as we thought it was a bit expensive. We found there were plenty of places to eat and got a breakfast of coffee and a croissant for €2 each. We had to check out very early on the 2nd morning and at first couldn't find anyone to hand our key card to. After finding a member of staff, we were given a token to exit the car park and we were on our way. Will definitely staff here, should we return again.

Room Tip: You could be disturbed by noise and vibrations from Trams on the front of the Hotel, so if that both...

This is a great little hotel, and from what I can tell the price is really competitive. The rooms are nice- not spacious by any stretch of the imagination, but there's enough room to do what you need to do (unless you plan on doing extensive Yoga on your vacation!). We didn't have any dressers in our room, but there were hangers and a little bit of closet space. The bathrooms are tiny, and the shower stalls definitely need a bit of athleticism to negotiate, but the water pressure is solid and the water is reliably warm (it fluctuates a bit but nothing too bad). The hotel's location is *OUTSTANDING*- right next to line 1 (red) of the Tram, and just a few blocks away are a TON of restaurants, bars, cafe, stores, and historic attractions. Also: BIG BONUS: 24 hour bar and restaurant downstairs. For foreign travelers this is GREAT, since our bodies might be still adjusting to the time change and need to eat earlier or later than some of the places nearby (Gent restaurants have notoriously crappy hours). The free hotel Wifi was *GREAT*, everywhere in the room it ran at high speeds and had no problem streaming Amazon videos.

Great for tourists: Might not be great for large families, but for couples with maybe one child at most this place offers an affordable, convenient base of operations for sightseeing and experiencing Gent. Now, I can't imagine a family making an especial trip to see Gent (there's cool historic stuff but not nearly as much as most other European cities), but for a trip of a few days this place is perfect.

Great for business: I believe this hotel is geared towards business travelers, and it's definitely good for that. The free Wifi runs really well and is a great value. The 24 hour restaurant and bar is great (their food is actually quite good, and the beer selection is really nice!). The location is great, and can serve as a great base of operations for your trip.

In summary, this is a great place to stay if you're coming to Gent!! The beds are really comfortable, and everything that you need is available for a pleasant trip.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a printed receipt for the 'city tax' which you'll be charged. It'll...

Usually stay in an Ibis and have stayed in the other one in Gent a few years ago. This one seems is a bit livelier and a little bit more central. Parking OK - We went to one round the corner (P4) which was 22EUR for 3 Days! Fantastic prices.

Check-in was painless and the rooms were good. Showers a little small but you're not in there for long (!). Bar was really really good and stayed open all hours. Bar staff were especially friendly, which we found to be out of character for Gent. Great beers and a constant stream of free bar snacks. Bar still open and serving when we returned home after midnight which is always a welcome sight.

Breakfast good - Just remember your breakfast vouchers each day so you don't have to trudge back up to your room again and again (!). Nice and relaxed and strongly recommended.

A no frills clean cheap hotel , well located in City centre , expensive underground parking and fairly modest breakfast offering . Fine for a single night but not much longer .

Situated on one of the main shopping streets and surrounded by decent restaurants .
