“value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2011

If you don't care about roomservice, a minibar or a large flatscreen this is the place to be. Located a little bit outside the city centre, Parkhotel offers clean rooms with a comfortable bed and good shower. Service is friendly and I enjoyed breakfast.

I was a bit puzzled when I arrived at the hotel as it is not obvious that it is one. There is no front desk as you will normally find but some office that serves as such at the back of the garden. You enter the "hotel" through big doors where there is a lot of rubble, etc so at first you think that you entered the wrong door. But just follow the signs to the reception. There you will find friendly owners who help you out with city maps and brochures. The room was ok with all basics. Breakfast was not very much, in quantity and quality, for the price you had to pay. Breakfast is also served late. The nicest part of the hotel is the garden where you can sit, weather permitting. The owners are gone after 21:30 but it is posted that you can phone them when needed 24/7. For me it seemed overdone to phone for an internet access ticket so I did not use that. If you want to use internet make sure to get the ticket before the owners leave.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2011

the hotel is so new it has not yet been finished and in my opinion the room we were in should not have been let.

We stayed on level one - the stairs up to the level and the corridors were unfinished, the balcony area right outside our windows was still a construction site! Our room smelt like paint and plaster. The bathroom and doorway lights are sensor lights with no switch, but neither worked properly. The bathroom lights automatically went off after 10 seconds unless you constant move around - it was very annoying. While the doorway lights would stay on for ages. In the morning there were workers in the corridors & balcony (still construction sites) right outside our room - it was noisy and allowed us very little privacy!

While the room was a good size and had a lot of furniture, but lacked the essentials - kettle, fridge, aircon were missing and Internet was 10 euro extra. We booked a double but got two single beds. The room & sheets were clean but one of our towel had a big stain. We paid 80 Euros for one night - frankly I think there are better options.
The hotel will probably be nice once its ready and all the issues ironed out - i just don't think it's ready yet - wait until AT LEAST after summer 2011.

Room Tip: ground floor looked more finished than upper leve

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2009

Brand new hotel (2009) The service was very friendly and we felt at ease immediately.
The hotel seems a little bit out of the centre, but Ghent is a small city so everything is on a small walk' s reach. Good beds, nice continental breakfast. Price was ok. The entrance is not what I expected to be a hotel because it is the same entrance of restaurant ' la provence' . The reception is in the back of the garden.
