This hotel is well situated on Hasselt's inner ring road with easy access to the pedestrianised town centre. The room we were allocated was spacious and would have been comfortable had the air conditioning worked. Parking is in a basement car park. I booked the room for Rewards Points and we were given a voucher for a free drink in the bar.
We dined out in Hasselt which has lots of appealing restaurants and is well worth an overnight stop if that suits your plans.
On return we tried the hotel bar, took our seats and ordered our free drink (which was one free, one paid for). Once we were finished, we wanted to order another but were completely ignored which didn't really surprise us as our waiter had seemed a bit unfocused on his tasks. We left leaving cash to cover and he came rushing after us, until we pointed out that if he looked at our table he would find the cash!
Holiday Inn seem to be very shy about the price of breakfast these days, it's not mentioned anywhere on their website. It's €18 per person, which we decided was too much and made alternative plans.
On checking out, apparently we had been charged breakfast for the previous day (we only stayed that night) so that had to be taken off our bill. Then I queried the €12 car park charge as when I booked it was €10 on the website and remains so two days later. The receptionist tried to help and wanted to give us an alternative ticket. She then gave us the bill which was for money, not Priority Club points as booked. She had to make another phone call to a supervisor who explained how to rectify this on the computer, but then told the receptionist that we'd just have to pay the €12 for parking. Faced with a growing queue and only one receptionist, I decided not to stand my ground on that one. Why only one receptionist at 0930?
It should have been better, in fact the Holiday Inn Express nearby is the better option which should be enough to suggest this hotel is being badly run.
