“Excellent stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014

We chose this hotel as it was within walking distance of the town centre and was an excellent price per night. We had read the previous reviews, some not very complimentary but as all we wanted to do was sleep there we thought we'd risk it. Am so glad we did because we had a great time. We arrived around 8pm and were warmly greeted by the receptionist, Arnaud. Smooth check-in and were on our way to our rooms. The rooms reminded us of Travelodge/Premier Inn type so comfortable. There were no cigarette smoke odours as previously mentioned on reviews, just a clean, welcoming room. We decided to go for a walk after we'd settled in so asked Arnaud where the nearest place was to sample Belgian beer and if there was a shop nearby. He gave us a map of Charleroi and we were shown where places were. There was a shop within 5 minutes walk so we could buy bottled water for the room cheaply and also a carton of milk. There is a refrigerated mini bar (empty unless you request it to be filled!) so ideal for putting the milk in. Tea/coffee tray in the room but only powdered creamer. We preferred proper milk so the minibar facility was ideal for storing it! We'd seen the complaints about the cost of Wi-Fi so we asked at reception - "is there free wifi?" We were told it was free if we sign up to the occasional email advertising Best Western, think it was an executive club, but it was free and we had free internet access whilst there. You just have to get the code from reception each day. Perfect!
We didn't use the buffet breakfast facility as we thought it was too expensive. We went for coffee, pain chocolat and sandwich at a reasonable price at Point Chaud in the town. We used there but there was lots of choice where breakfast was concerned.
We spent 3 nights here, was a great place to stay and would stay here again. Shop and bar within 5 mins, town centre within 7 mins with lots of shops and bars, 10 min walk to train station so for us, was an ideal place to stay. The rooms were clean and functional, modern TV, bath/shower, comfortable bed, very helpful evening/night receptionist called Arnaud. There is a construction site opposite at the moment but you don't here anything from it even in the reception area! It cost 20 euros by taxi from the airport but we'd investigate train times/fares next time now we know where it is as I'm sure they would be cheaper.
If we had to recommend something that could be improved upon, then it would be the hairdryer - air was lukewarm only. But if that's the only complaint we had, can't recommend the place enough.

We stopped here for one night after getting stuck in traffic and having to change our plans. The hotel was not too difficult to find and we parked in the car park at the back. The chap on the desk was friendly and helpful, offering us the option of bringing our bikes into the hotel rather than leave them on the back of the car. However, we were charged 8 euros to park in the car park which we thought was pretty steep. Our room was tatty and tired. The curtains were hanging off and the wallpaper was pretty ragged. Everything felt cheap and not the quality we would expect from a Best Western. Even the cups for tea and coffee were flimsy, small plastic ones. The bed was comfy and the room was quiet, so we slept well.
We ate in the restaurant which was adequate - nothing exciting. Breakfast was plentiful - lots of choice of cold foods and scrambled egg and bacon.

We stayed at this hotel last weekend whilst visiting the Antique Fair in Temploux....As it is classes as a business hotel we thought it would be good value for money..
Although the staff are friendly and helpful..our room was disgusting.
Upon walking in we smelled smoke...(although it is a non smoking room), window wouldn't open wide enough to get any air into the place, and the carpets were filthy dirty and stained all over the place....
We told the night Porter about the smoke smell, but nothing was done about it....
We ate at the hotel thae first night which is run by a different management....Food was mediocre at best, and quite expensive....
During the night, the road outside was very noisy....
The next morning we left at 5.30 am and were out until almost 2pm...then house keeping came knocking on the door to do the room..Why couldnt they do it when we were out??? Consequently the room didnt get cleaned at all..Not that it would have made much difference anyway as the carpets and curtains need throwing out and starting again..
Not impressed at all with this place and will not return,,,,

Room Tip: Don't bother..choose and Ibis....

We found the hotel dirty, the room (non smoking one) was smelling of sigarets, the breakfast was very poor quality and the gym was really disappointing. I was really upset. The staff at least was gentle.

Rooms were small with no bath. The staff were curt during the night shift and didn't offer information readily. Breakfast was included but was limited and in a soulless room.
It also cost €9 euro to get to from airport in a taxi.

We only stayed here one night on our way to Germany. Our satnav got us from the motorway reasonably easily.

The hotel is a little bit away from the main town and there was no evening dining facilities in the hotel. The reception provided a map showing recommended places to eat but all were about 5 minutes walk or more away

The room was comfortable and clean and served it's purpose as stop off between home and our holiday resort.

The breakfast was a typical buffet with a couple of hot options.

I would have liked to have been able to book a parking space and was really concerned beforehand about what we would do if the hotel car park had been full, fortunately there was plenty of space though I think the parking ought to have been less expensive.

We were here for work -so we were only interested in sleeping and its location near the city centre. For that it is OK.
It is a rather functional hotel. The rooms are adequate but the decor is rather dated. Bed was comfortable. The TV was pretty old, but worked. Although there was an on-site restaurant it never appeared to be open. We chose to eat at a nice place just down the road.
The reception staff were very helpful and pleasant.
The breakfasts were not bad and the bread was fresh, but nothing spectactular, and because the room was larger than was needed one end was left without lighting which seemed rather unwelcoming.

There is a car park, but the hotel charges for this. Wifi is available in rooms but has to be paid for at a very high cost, There is free internes access in reception but only via a PC. v- a printer is attached with no charge for paper. We did not see or use the gym/sauna which others have commented on, on tripadvisor.

Overall a hotel that is falling behind traveller expectations. It needs a refurbishment and its physical building means it is not really very pleasing. If all you want is somewhere to sleep then its fine. I certainly wouldn't use it for a holiday stopover.
