Overall, my family and I had a great dinner last Saturday.
For a restaurant situated in the famous restaurant area (Sablon) in Brussels, I must say that the staff are very friendly and serve the customers with care. If you want to go to a romantic dinner, I would say this is the place. I like the decor; the colors, the chairs and tables in this restaurant, they really calming and cosy.
The restaurant is quite small, there were serving maximum 7 tables that night, but the patron makes sure that you have enough 'space' to enjoy your dinner with your parties. Although there are some small free tables available, but the patron refused customers. I think this is good, because they do not try to 'squeeze' you between customers and to complete the number of seatings in the restaurant.
Therefore, reservation is a must!
As for the food, we were a bit disappointed. I came here without knowing what to choose. I didn't read the tripadvisor reviews, so I didn't know that the duck is any good. I think that the patron should make suggestion of what we should try.
I took the Terrine de foie gras, served with toasts. The others entrees looks great too. I took the lamb, and it's really delicious. Other people took the blanquette de veau (veal), dos de sandre (fish) and supreme de volaille (chicken), and they said their food were good. But I think it's missing the 'Wow' effect.
We did get a surprised soup, which is made from zuchinni and basilic. It's really great for between the meals.
We were disappointed with the dessert (which everyone in my table took). The profiteroles with ice cream came with only 2 profiteroles and the chocolate sauce is not warm and not thick enough. We were expecting thick hot melted chocolate, but the sauce that we get is runny and not hot. However, we were compensated by the patron with a flute of champagne each (because of our comments on the chocolate sauce). I saw the other table took the Moelleux au chocolat, it serves with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Maybe I should get that or the creme brulee (my favorite). However, I think they should improve on the dessert and the dessert menu itself.
