We ate here on what was obviously a busy Friday night. We had booked for 9pm, but were contacted 24 hrs before our visit to ask if it could be moved to 9.30. We arrived at 9.30 to find the restaurant packed. We had to stand until at last, after 15 minutes, a table eventually left. We then ordered and we didn't see any food until nearly 10.30. Perhaps its all part of the Spanish experience. It would have been nice to have been offered a drink or something to compensate for the inconvenience but that didn't seem to occur to the (admittedly very cute) waiting staff.
So not a great start to our visit. However, when the food did arrive it was excellent. There is an extensive menu of mouthwatering spanish dishes and this was supplemented by several specials available on the night. We chose a variety of starters between us - iberian hams, manchego cheese, garlic prawns and calamari. It could not be faulted. For mains the three of us shared a mixed paella, and again it was well worth the wait - packed with chicken, squid, mussels and prawns. Probably the best paella I've tasted. Looking around at other diners all the food looked delicious.
The restaurant is small and has a real buzz. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
