“never again.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2011

This was truly an experience to forget, but we probably never will, not the absolute worst but wouldn't ever go back. You might have a good experience, by chance, but I wouldn't risk it, here's why:

Service:
Not a warm welcome to start with. The waiters, two late middle aged men, clearly didn't care about service. They used our table to put things on when they were changing the tables next to ours, whilst we were eating. Wouldn't have minded quite as much if they had at least asked, but still, not the done thing. When changing the napkins between courses they just chucked them in front of us, nearly off the table. Lazy. Both waiters also stood around smoking whilst we were waiting to pay our bill. Fair enough to have a fag break one at a time, but to leave paying customers waiting like that was shocking.

Food:
Oh dear. Starters: Escargot, which to be fair were pretty decent. Also a mixed salad, one of the worst things we have ever seen put in front of us. Looked old and probably not properly washed. Lazily cut and prepared. Didn't taste good at all.
Mains: Lobster in garlic butter. Overcooked, not a great amount of meat. The legs had absolutely nothing left inside. Lobster thermidor was better cooked but not great by any means. Hair in rice. They took it away but didn't bother to replace it.

Can't recommend this place. Sorry. The only place on our holiday we left without tipping.

“Decent food but HORRIBLE service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2011

We went to this restaurant for coffee and desert. From the start the waiter was unhappy we didn't order more. The service was horrible: we waited for 30 mins for menus to arrive, and another 30 mins for coffee and crepes. At the same time the restaurant was semi empty so the waiter wasn't busy. Save your money and go someplace else with better service!

“charming friendly place, excellent service and fabulous fish and wine!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2010

Great location - very close to the metro, a few mins walk from Grand Place. You can sit inside or outside in the lovely St Catherine square, with a view of the huge old church and fountain there. Lovely staff, very attentive service, a great selection of fish and wines. Try the trio des poissons - three huge portions of freshly cooked fish, with a nice side of veg. Goes well with the 2007 Riesling! Relaxing French music playing in the background. Starters 6-15 euro; mains 15-35; good wine 32. The staff are knowledgable about the food and wine. Really recommend it...

It looked like a bad night for them, but then, it looks like every night is a bad night. The menu is very attractive if you love seafood and fish. But then the food is just Ok, nice but way overpriced. I won't go again.
