“Good style great location some floors”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Stayed here for 2 nights. The style of the hotel is great and the loft rooms are well proportioned. On the down side breakfast is very expensive the walls and windows are paper thin so bring ear plugs. The monks in the lift starts off to be nice but wear thin after a bit. On the whole glad we stopped here once we got some ear plugs.

Dear Brian,
Thanks you so much for the honest feedback!
Be sure that I'll tell the monks that you don't like their chants...

This is my second stay at The Hotel Dominican. If you travel to the Midi station from the airports/eurostar, it is about a 20-25 minute walk or 10 minutes on the metro. The nearest metro stop is De Brouckere and the hotel is situated behind the Theatre Royal. We were able to secure a fantastic rate for 2 nights. (100 euros for 2 nights B&B). This is a luxurious hotel with plush furnishings and a warm feeling with eleborate artwork, great lighting and atmosphere. We arrived around 10.30am on Friday morning and were able to check in and have acces to our room. The room was a reasonable size with a large shower and bed. We had a juliet balcony at the back of the hotel and whlst the view was not great (into another building) it was very quiet and just what we wanted. It was great to be able to check in so early rather than wait until 3pm. We were able to unpack and go straight out. The hotel is easy to find, 5 minutes walk from Grand Place. We enjoyed a late night drink in the bar and whilst the prices are slightly dearer than many other places in Brussels, it is similar to drinking in an expensive bar/hotel in the UK. Breakfast is plentiful with a great selection of fresh fruit, pastries, cold meats, cheeses and hot plate choices too. I would definitely stay here again.

We travel regularly and look for interesting hotels. This one met the test: handsome, well located, and with a terrific staff. Rooms are one the smaller side, which is typical for Europe, but beautifully appointed and intelligently designed. Beds are very comfortable, and A/C and internet work well. Staff was outstanding: effortlessly multilingual, friendly, and truly interesting in engaging their guests. The location is within walking distance of everything important, but a couple of blocks out of the tourist center, so quieter. Summer rates are very reasonable (about 110 euros). The only downside was a strange, musty/moldy smell in the hallways that was quite pronounced. It did not seep into the rooms however. Were it not for that, this hotel would certainly rate 5 circles.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard are quiet.

As a frequent business traveller, I visit Brussels almost every other week. Dominican is always my first choice, if I can get a good rate around EUR 120, I always stay there. Sometimes it gets too expensive, over EUR 200, then I go elsewhere...

Why do I like this place?

Big, clean rooms. Very modern shower (and bath sometimes). Big bed, a lot of pillows. Free wifi. Very central location. Very close to my favourite mussels place (chez Leon)
When they call a taxi for you, you can be sure that a taxi will come. Brussels taxis must be the worst in the world. They think that only people going to the airport have a right to call a taxi.

Efficient check in, and check out.

I've never had breakfast there. I think EUR 27 is too much for breakfast.

Stay at the Dominican you won't regret it.

My wife and I spent five nights at The Dominican in July of 2013. The well appointed hotel is located close to the central square, the museums, the metro station and the cathedral. The rooms were well appointed and the beds were very comfortable. The bar at The Dominican was excellent but pricy.

Stayed here August 2013. Really helpful, efficient staff. Handsome rooms, everything we wanted for a short trip to Brussels. Great central location, metro station nearby.very comfortable bed, we had a room overlooking the inner courtyard garden. Very quiet.

We stayed for a long weekend in a deluxe room, air con, king size bed, which was too soft, shower, no bath, Nespresso coffee maker, couch and desk, large flat screen TV. Nice decor, but I have stayed in better 4 star rooms for less than half the price, breakfast alone was £27 per person, which I considered exorbitant. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel is well situated behind the Royal Theatre and between the old town and the new, but I would not stay there again.

Room Tip: Rather choose a better hotel
