“Lovely place to stay in the fabulous heart of Brussels”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

I had spoken to Theo before arriving in Brussels and he was very friendly and helpful and lovely to meet in person. He gave us perfect directions from the station to the B&B and we found it very easily.

The B&B is in a great area of Brussels, very hip and quirky with lots of bars, cafes and shops. Sights like the Grand Place and Mannekin Pis are only a few minutes’ walk away.

Our room was up 4 flights of narrow stairs so make sure you ask if you’d rather be on a lower level. We loved our room with modern decor and a huge comfy bed. The windows looked out onto the busy street below and even though the nearby bars were always open late, with the windows closed we could hear nothing at all from outside.

Breakfast was in the main room downstairs where croissants, bread, ham, cheese, yoghurts, cereal and jams were laid out for us and Theo brought us hot drinks and juice.

We were pretty much left to our own devices and only saw Theo at breakfast so it felt more like a small guest house rather than your traditional bed and breakfast but that was perfectly fine with us as we were out most of the time exploring the city.

The only problem I had with the B&B was that the floorboards were extremely creaky and it woke me up every time someone started walking about on the floor above us. I’m an extremely light sleeper though, whereas my husband isn't, and he wasn’t disturbed at all.

A lovely place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

I spent 5 nights at this cosy bed and breakfast with my partner and we had an amazing experience. We felt as if we were staying at our friend's house by the warm welcome we received everyday at breakfast time by the owner Theo who is so helpful and friendly.
Breakfast really good and We got to taste local product.
We had the first floor room which was neat and tidy, quite spacious for the two of us.
Thank you to your Team and you Theo.
I recommend highly Downtown BXL.

Bianca and Stephane.

We recently stayed at this BandB for one night while passing through back to Paris. What an outstanding, charming and comfortable property! The rooms are well appointed and the staff extraordinarily helpful and friendly. The breakfast in the morning was beyond filling and delicious. I highly recommend this property if you're spending any amount of time in Brussels. One word of warning: there is no elevator, but the staff will help you with your bags to the rooms.

Room Tip: The higher rooms offer great views of the street below.

We loved this B&B. The location is perfect. We were able to walk anywhere we wanted. The neighborhood is very fun. The inn itself is very clean and well-kept. We had a private kitchen area for tea/coffee on our floor. We also were served great breakfasts: tea/coffee/breads/cheese/yogurt/eggs/ham/jams/etc. Everything was great.

We also thought Theo was extremely kind and helpful. He made great suggestions, called a taxi for us for the airport, etc. We ate at four restaurants that Theo recommended and all were fabulous: If you like Ethiopian, try Kobok. If you want great pasta nearby, try La Cavena. Bij Den Boer and Tavern Passage were great for Belgian food.

As a young couple, we often look for somewhere which is cost-effective but provides that little bit of chic which makes a holiday special and this place ticks all boxes. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfy and the staff are more than friendly. The breakfast definitely fills a hole and provides a wide range from boiled eggs, yoghurts, cold meats, cereal... i would definitely recommend this place if not for the rooms then for the bar located about 2 houses down but be wary of the stairs if you've had a few!

We stayed 2 nights in Brussels over NYE's and really loved this place. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and where always willing to help us out with a smile on their face. The location couldn't get any better really. Right in the centre and a stone's throw away from the Grand Place, Manneken Pis, restaurants, bars and anything else you need really. The breakfast is delicious and fresh and served in a very personal area on the first floor. The room was absolutely spotless, beautifully decorated and the bed was VERY comfortable. (this is extremely important in my books). I was surprised with some of the comments i read previously that mentioned that the B&B is in a noisy neighborhood. Not at all I must say! We had a great sleep for both nights of our stay including NYE when everyone is out on the streets until the early hours. The only down side to the B&B was that we stayed on the 4th floor which meant I had to carry some heavy suitcases up and down a lot of narrow and steep steps. Quite tiring to say the least but worth the small hassle. Probably not the best for someone who has a bad back but a great little workout for everyone else. (To be fair here, we were warned by the hosts about this so it did not come as a surprise to me).

For a big city like Brussels this is a little gem and great value for money. Would recommend this place to anyone going to Brussels for a short break!

Right next to Moeder Lambic, one of the best bars in the area. Very helpful staff, who helped direct us to the B&B when we got a bit lost on the way there (in excellent English).

BEAUTIFUL rooms - really stunning, great design-aware trendy boutique style, and even champagne glasses and a corkscrew available in the room for late night drinking :-)

We were in the attic suite which was amazing, really beautiful and nice to have a sitting room to spread out the maps when planning the day.
