“This place is not livable”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2010

The exterior and the lobby looked pretty good. We were able to walk to the Midi station in 20 minutes, and near all other attractions as well. But beyond that this place is a rat hole. The elevator was the size of a coffin. The carpet was so nasty, the linen had holes in them, the lights were broken and the walls needed repaint. It looked like they hadn't done anything with it since the 70's. The bathroom light was out and the staff told us nothing they could do. The room felt like a jail cell and we couldn't wait to leave. This was the most disgusting hotel I have ever seen.

Good quiet location less than 5 mins from metro. Desk staff were perfectly cordial. But after that it gets a bit Soviet. I booked a double room for more space but shower/WC still like a phone box. Very tired decor, grubby and stale. I like a firm mattress but this was like a board. Industrial quantities of black mould in shower. Wifi only in lobby. Breakfast was quite adequate and cheap at 5 euros, but overall there must be better value than this in Brussels.

The hotel is a few blocks from the central square, the main touristic place in Brussels.
The room is comfortable, quiet and have a wonderful shower.
The only problems we got were climbing the stairs from the 4th to 5th floor. The 5th floor were brand new and the toilet had a funny smell of sewers, and no window, just a small ventilation whole on the ceiling.
The staff is very friendly and they have free wifi at the lobby.

I was looking for a non-expensive hotel with a central location and was not disappointed. The room was a bit shabby but comfortable with a desk and a closet, the window was facing the room opposite so it was quiet. The buffet breakfast was ok but little, and you can do better in any of the places around. Free wifi was available in the lobby only.

It’s a good hotel for the many you pay; the hotel has got a really good location; I should say it’s not for the romantic holidays..the furniture is far out of days, but for the purpose just to spend there a night/couple of nights and not to spend much in comparison to the prices of Brussels - it’s good; our room was #21 (the view to the Place Rouppeplaats), it was bigger and better then previous one (unfortunately I don’t remember the number)..Good luck!! & enjoy;)

I reserved 2 rooms, both were on the 4th floor but we had to ask to change one of the rooms due to the oppressive musty/damp smell. We ended up on the 5th floor which is still in the process of being renovated. We had no problems with the staff if anything they were accommodating and friendly.

For the price we paid there had to be a catch. What this hotel has going for it is it's location and in general the room was clean, with clean bed linen and towels. On the other hand the net curtains most definitely hadn't been washed in a long time, the shower door didn't close properly and the holder for the shower head was broken. Most importantly the beds were very uncomfortable. I like firm mattresses but it's the first time I've ever woken up with a pain in my hip bone from contact with a mattress!

If your budget is tight then this hotel is reasonable but beware only one of the room interior pictures on the "Rates to go" website is representative of the 3 rooms I viewed. Yes, you've guessed it - it's the tired outdated picture.
