“Good value, nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013 via mobile

I was at Yen for lunch on a weekday with a friend. The food was affordable, delicious and fresh, and the service was friendly and quick. Therefore, it was surprising to us that no one else sat at the restaurant.

“In need of renewal”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

We used to visit Yen once or twice per year, during a rather long period (8 years). However we had not been there for a while and our latest visit proved also the last. The dining room looks like it has not been redecorated from the first time we were there – 8 years ago – nor cleaned thoroughly for a while. The furnishing starts to look old and tired; there are cobwebs on the lamps.

The menu is still the same as 8 years ago and just like then, some dishes and wines are not available. It would be more professional to remove those items that are temporarily (for 8 years?) unavailable….Anyway, we ordered two starters (the first one was unavailable, so we had to change order), then one chicken dish and their specialty beef, cooked on the table as main course.

While before we had a dish heater to keep the beef warm, now there is none offered. To drink with our meal we selected a red wine (second choice as the first was not available) and that was the best thing we had.

Even if the restaurant’s 10 tables were all occupied there was- as usual - only the owner serving, while a girl wearing jeans and T-shirt (probably of the family) removed the dirty crockery. She did not answered when we asked her for some hot sauce, so I am not even sure she speaks French.

Overall it was a depressing experience, sitting in the dimly lit, cold room and waiting a long time to be served by a single person running around to attend all the tables, while the mute girl removed dirty dishes. The final bill was quite high considering the environment and service. We will not go back.
