“Brussels green space”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

largest natural beech wood in western Europe. Good place to get out of the city and acceptable by Brussels excellent public transport system at various points. No where for refreshments other than on the fringes.

“Countryside in Town”

If you are keen to make sport during the weekend, do not hesitate to go for this forest. Very good place and not too much people!

“Most beautiful forest on the outskirts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

Attached to le Bois de la Cambre, just in the middle of Brussels posh area, beautiful forest well-kept (much better than the roads!) full of nice lanes for horses, bikers, runners, families and lovers. As far away from le Bois you go, the more quiet it gets. Don't let your dog run freely, you'd never see it again.

“Magnificent in autumn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

During fall, this large forest (for an urban forest) is shining of all the colours of the falling leaves. I prefer walking, but you can also jog, ride horses, or bike. If you have no car, the easiest is to go to Hermann-Debroux. From there, I recommend to go to the little Bassem street, where you'll find the entrance of the little-known Bergoje park. Follow the only path, and after crossing the Chaussée de Wavre/Waverse steenweg you'll arrive in Rouge-Cloitre, a beautiful former monastery with a sequence of lakes. Continue (f you are not yet tired) to get in the main part of the forest. Or you can also go to the right after the football fields, under the highway bridge to visit the Château des Trois Fontaines. It is useful to take a map or a GPS, you can easily get lost. Another possibility is to take tram 44 that crosses part of the forest, and walk from there to the right to also get in Rouge-Cloître. (on the left, you would get out of the forest rapidly in Woluwé-Saint-Pierre). A very different access is to visit the Bois de la Cambre and continue from there.

One of the most beautiful places in Brussels, to be visited at all costs both by families, friends groups, couples and even single persons!
