“Best burger of my life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

As an American, I don't use such a title lightly. I stumbled upon this burger joint while wandering Ixelles late at night, and was not expecting much. Walked in, was seated, and opened the menu to find lip-smacking choices for burgers - with ingredients like pesto, burrata, smoked lard and fresh pear confit, I was in burger heaven.

Cooked rare, I savored ever bite and immediately texted a fellow burger lover to save it in his burger bucket list.

DO NOT MISS!

“Best Burgers in Brussels”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

Hemgie’s is basically Brussels version of GBK or Byrons. The restaurant is located just off the Galeries Saint Hubert. The restaurant is modern inside and out and has a good menu to choose from. We had 3 starters to share, a burger each and 2 drinks for just over €50 so for a burger its not exactly cheap but well worth the extra little bit.

The burgers were very tasty and a good size and come with a good size portion of chips. I ordered the ‘Smack That’ which was toasted homemade bread, a thick medium rare beef patty, double cheddar, caramelised onion with beer, Bacon, smoked chicken, onion rings, aioli and as an after though some salad and after a few drinks at Delirium hit the spot perfectly. My wife had the Route 66 which is homemade bread, beef patty, cheddar, ham, bacon, onion rings, fried egg and bbq sauce. However the BBQ sauce was more cream based and with the egg made the burger too rich for her and she couldn’t manage it all.

We would both happily eat here again when next in Brussels but I think my wife would probably choose from one of the other interesting burger combination on offer.
