From the outside, this hotel looks very non-descript, and even the lobby looks tired and in need of a makeover. But the real reason to stay here is the room you get. The rooms are like small suites. Everything in it was comfortable, and there was a good mixture of new and traditional, with free wi-fi internet coupled with wood pannelling, smart furniture, and great soundproofing. It's just a shame the quality of the dining experience was less impressive. White wine was served warm, orders were mixed up, and they'd run out of most of the desserts - and we were the only ones in the restaurant.
I don't think this is a great example of an SLH (Small luxury hotel), but it was a very nice hotel to stay at nonetheless.

This is a member of the SMALL LUXURY HOTELS of the world - Great location, just outside a Metro Stop. Room is super nice, and best of all, FREE WIFI ACCESS! They even have a library of DVDs for you to watch. The price was so cheap - Euro99/night, but during high season it's Euro280/night. We'd stay here again. We wouldn't stay at hotels near the Grand Place - noisy, crowded and a bit dirty.

After spending a few lovely days in Brugge and Gent, my partner and I were disappointed that Brussels was dingy, smelly and a bit neglected. So we were pleased to be staying at the Montgomery, a few metro stops outside the city centre, in what seemed like a nice area.

The hotel itslef is very nice - big room, good bathroom, comfy bed, bathrobes etc. There's also free wi-fi. The leather wing backs are a nice touch in the bar, where belgian beer is reasonable, and whiskeys and cognacs extortionate.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. But the breakfast is expensive, and not the best for 20 euro (cheap orange juice, bog standard bread - that kind of thing).

We got a cheap weekend rate, so it worked out as a very reasonble option, and felt like we got good value for money.

I stayed here with my husband and 11 year old son. I used to live in Brussels, so know the city quite well.

The hotel is located just by the Montgomery roundabout in Brussels. It's location is probably not the best for perhaps a tourist coming for a night in Brussels as to get to the main sights (well the Grand Place!) you would need to take the metro which is located right by the hotel.

So although it's not in a touristy location it is well located with the tram and metro nearby fr getting around Brussels & is also within walking distance of Parc Cinquantenaire.

There are a few restaurants nearby - try the Jardin De Nicholas - good quality & not expensive

The hotel was modern and clean. The room was spacious wth a reasonable bathroom which included 2 bathrobes (not to keep!) and a sofa which turned into a double sofa bed for our son. The hotel isn't that big. It's not a bad hotel, perfectly functional, but I wouldn't rave about it!

This is a great hotel. My room was very spacious, with a sofa and desk, on the top floor overlooking the main road; the soundproofing of the windows is excellent so no noise from the traffic unless you open the windows, and no need to do that at night with the air conditioning. The decor is traditional and of good quality. My only gripe, pretty minor, is that in some of the rooms the bathroom door opens right in front of the wardrobe and drawers, so to get to your clothes you have to close the bathroom door completely. I loved the touch of underfloor heating in the bathroom to keep the feet warm--nice even in summer. I think different rooms are decorated in different colors; mine had blue striped wallpaper which I guess made it darker but I liked it. Wifi internet access is free (a real plus if you need it since in many hotels that can add a lot to your bill).

The hotel is part of a boutique chain, Eurostars, based in Spain; it's smaller than most chains. When I was there in late July it wasn't very full (off-season for Brussels especially in the eu and surrounding area) so I got a great deal, plus plenty of attention, all staff most helpful--in fact at breakfast I almost felt there was too much attention, two or three of us eating and as many people providing service, just waiting for a chance to fill up your orange juice again! (At least that was true during the week, the service at the weekend seemed more lax.) The breakfast is expensive (20 euros) but with high quality ingredients. For other meals the restaurant is also delicious.

The hotel is right next to a metro stop so the fact that it's some distance out doesn't matter much as the journey in is very fast (unlike say if you were a ways down the Louise district, which is a nice area but only accessible by tram). It's ideal if you don't want to be right in the center. I was there by myself on business, and in that situation I just slightly preferred the hotel I stayed in right after this one, the Sofitel Quartier Europe (very different feel, ultra modern); but I really enjoyed the Montgomery too, and if I wanted a classy hotel on vacation with my partner I would choose this hotel.
