“Beautiful luxury hotel but couple of bugbears!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

This is a really lovely hotel with a real feel of luxury from the moment you walk into the lobby. The rooms are also fantastic as are the bar and restaurant facilities. Despite this there were a couple of small annoyances which stopped me giving it a 5/5 rating..
1. When we checked in the 'deposit' taken against extras was nearly £400 even though the room was prepaid - it's a week now since we checked out and the money's still not available in my bank!
2. Even by 5* hotel standards, the breakfast was ludicrously expensive (£25) and not all that nice.
These are fairly small points though so I would definitely recommend the hotel - just hang on to your credit card and give breakfast a miss!!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for the weekend over 5 December and thoroughly enjoyed it.

On first impression walking in both of us got that wow factor of luxury. My girlfriend could not wipe the smile off her face and i got some serious brownie points! :)

Hotel room was super spacious, massive comfy bed and large bathroom, breakfast was lovely and the staff were very helpful and nice.

Location was not too bad, about 20min walk to main city center attractions with lots to see along the way or +- 8 euro cab ride. Also pretty close to the eurostar Midi station. +- 8 euro cab ride.

Being picky now but some minor negative points:
Room was a bit warm in the evenings. They did have controls to adjust them we were just lazy.
Not sure if it's a euro thing but the massive bed had single duvet covers not a large single one?
Small wait to visit the restaurant for breakfast.

Would definitely recommend to anyone especially during the Christmas markets time.

This was our second stay at this hotel. A substantial renovation took place since the first. The neighborhood offers walk-to restaurants and upscale shopping. Service was pleasant and professional. The breakfast buffet was extensive and eggs of any style could be ordered.

We just returned to Los Angeles after a 5 day stay at the Steigenberger Grandhotel in Brussels. It was one of the nicest family vacations we have been on and we enjoyed every moment of staying there. Located in a beautiful corner of Louise Ave with cabs readily available and great shopping within a stone's-throw away, we felt more than comfortable at this grand and beautiful hotel with all the amenities and a staff that made it their business to see that we were well taken care of. Especially notable, are the concierges who know the city so well and pointed us in the right direction as far as great restaurants and seeing the sights were concerned. Compared to hotels we have stayed at in the past, our bill at the end of the stay was reasonable and without question, if we visited Brussels again, our top choice hotel would be the Steigenberger Grand.

Room Tip: The double rooms are larger than the King but both are more than roomy and comfortable

On arrival at this hotel couldn't believe how well we had done for our money with easy jet holidays! Gorgeous hotel and lovely room, very spacious!

The large majority of the staff from check in to check out we're friendly and helpful, although this hotel is grand we felt relaxed and comfortable here,

Breakfast was a wonderful selection and all tasty and fresh, easily set us up for the day! We also had a drink in the bar which was nice surroundings and not extortionate price given quality of hotel,

Overall we loved this hotel and although it was a 20 minute walk from the town centre we had known this on booking and enjoyed the walk,

Just a couple of very minor blips:

We had breakfast here on 2 mornings, 1st morning all well, 2nd morning yes it was busy but nothing they shouldn't have been able to cope with! Unfortunately didn't seem to be much communication between maître de and waiting staff as chaos trying to get tea/coffee/cutlery and lots of food running out and taking a whole to be replaced! The staff all looked stressed too despite there really being enough of them!

Concierge was brilliant and so helpful aside from nobody at desk sat mid afternoon and all evening which we thought would have been a popular time for people asking for dinner recommendations etc!

Room was lovely (if you love your tea take your own tea bags as only earl grey and green provided) with robes, plenty of towels and slippers. However there was a large damp patch on the ceiling in our bathroom which had been repaired badly and looked so out of place!

Cleaning throughout hotel was great aside from cloakrooms near the ballroom could have done with a bit of thorough dusting!

On booking we'd been asked if we had any special requests and I know we'd got a bargain and requests can't be guaranteed but I asked for an early check in, quiet room and late check out and didn't get any of the 3!

Don't think I would return to Brussels but overall hotel was great so would certainly stay at another of these hotels if they have others!

I stayed at the Steigenberger Grand Hotel for 1 night following a End Year Party with my employer. The entrance is majestic and is of impressive classic luxury. Check in was quick but somewhat chaotic. Someone who just walked out of the elevator skipped the line without staff noticing. No explanations on the facilities/breakfast during check in. The room is luxurious, classic, comfortable. Away from elevators as requested. Excellent beds and linnen. Bathroom is again classic, but spacious and everything is there what you need. WiFi is free of charge, easy to access and very fast. Dinner in the ball room was really good. Friendly and quick service, the foie gras and the Turkey were outstanding. Good wine pairing with a Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir from Alsace. Had a good night rest, no sound from surrounding rooms or corridor. Ordered breakfast in the room which was brought timely and was generous at a reasonable price. Went down to the gym (at -0, based on what the elevator buttons said) and was told at the Spa reception that entrance was € 30, regardless of what I would use. I said asking € 30 to use the gym is ridiculous and decided to leave. I was confused because the website clearly said the gym was free of charge. Proceeded to check out, long wait. The lady behind the reception had to do the check out, take in luggage and carry it away as well. With just 2 people, the reception was clearly understaffed. I asked the staff what the rules were on the gym and it appears there is a hotel gym on the 1st floor which is free of charge. I did not know this because noneone told me and there was no hotel info booklet in the room I could find. So either the Spa reception did not know or did not care to tell.

Long story short, the hotel is good, on the high end of the pricing range and would need to step up their service in order to fulfill expectations. Oh, asking € 30 for Spa access is in any case really too much. Regardless of the fact that it is not part of the hotel (many hotels have this set up), either make it part of the room price or lower the access fee. Otherwise you are just a high end hotel without the facilities.

Dear ChrisHaenen,

Many thanks for reviewing the Steigenberger Grandhotel Brussels.
We are delighted to read that your overall experience regarding your recent stay was a pleasant one.

As described by yourself we have a gym on the 1st floor free of charge, it is unfortunately not in our power to lower the entrance fee to access the Spa as the fee is revenue to the spa directly and not for the hotel. However we understand your disappointment after this unpleasant surprise after not being informed sufficiently about our in house gym.

Please note that we have informed the concerned head of department in order to provide our guest with the correct information in the future.

We hope to welcome you back soon in Brussels!
