“Fabulous Hotel”

My wife and I plus another couple stayed in this hotel 16-19 August. What a fabulous hotel and wonderful staff. Beware of prices, we booked through expedia and they got us a fantastic rate. The Hotel is handily situated on one o the main tramlines also it is not to fard to walk to the Grand Place.

Room Tip: Rooms facing into the Courtyard are quieter

We stayed at this wonderful hotel with my wife for a week in August, and would surely stay again if we ever go to Brussels once more.

The location was ideal, the room was very clean and breakfast was beautiful. However, what impressed us most was the welcoming and comforting attitude of the staff. It was evident, they all knew that the best thing one can wear is a smile.Furthermore, they were really very helpful and considerate. Our demands were met instantly. For instance, although they did not serve lactose free milk at breakfast,it was made available at my wife's request.

In short,if you are not concerned with insignificant details and you don't have much on your mind to nick pick, this is the right place. We must not forget that nobody is perfect and no place is perfect either.

I would like to thank the general manager,Blanche Van Berckel for creating such an adorable environment and the quality manager,Kıvanc Akil who constantly checked if everything was all right. And of course our special thanks to all the staff, you are brilliant people.

We love this hotel, especially when it was the Conrad, but fortunately they have kept many of the staff. My husband has been staying here for many years and I only recently over the past 4 years. I love the location of this hotel and the staff. The concierge, Stephan is brilliant, polite and extremely helpful in getting anything you want. We were, through him, able to play tennis at a club where you did not need a membership, he found us a place where we could rent the best bicycles for the day and cycled around the bois de Soigne and a reservation at the Chalet de la Foret which has 2 Michelin stars all at short notice. The Concierge makes a hotel and this is why we return to this one.

Room Tip: You can't go wrong here with a room, all the ones we have stayed in have been extremely comforta...

Have been regular guest here for many years. New Steigenberger management still has much to improve. Very friendly reception staff but even after my fourth stay this year ( recently two days apart) theystill ask me if it's my first time at the hotel. The lobby atmosphere is deadly with constantly empty cavernous spaces. Rooms nice but need some freshening up. A/C controls antiquated. Not forgiveable : no water glass on bedside table and NO bottle opener !!! ( I checked and double checked) . Temperature control in shower was stuck on cold and not to be moved and despite my bringing this up to housekeeping lady doing the room was not fixed . (Room 521)
Great location , clean and large rooms but needs a hard look by new management to deserve its fifth star. So far they run it like their City hotels in Gernany ( cheap) . Great breakfast in Wiltchers ( separate maagement ).

Dear Claurisam,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on TripAdvisor following your recent stay at the Grandhotel Brussels.
First of all, we would like to thank you for the loyalty you have shown to our property throughout the years.
We are glad to read that you enjoyed our reception staff’s friendliness as well as our breakfast offering since we have been working on that point to improve client’s satisfaction.
We have also noted the different comments you highlighted.
Indeed, receptionists should have recognized you, especially since you are a loyal guest and since you visited us twice within a week. Therefore, we would like to apologize if this has not been the case.
Regarding the air conditioning, know that we are currently undergoing works of renovation for each unit that are in our guest rooms so that our guests can feel as comfortable as they can.
For the temperature control in the shower which was not fixed, please accept our apologies and rest assured that we will follow up with the Housekeeping department in order to prevent any mistakes of that kind from reoccurring.
We hope that those incidents will not have an impact on your loyalty and look forward to your next visit.
Sincerely,
Kivanc Akil,

This hotel was the Conrad Hotel (our last visit) until early this year. It is pretty much unchanged although the reception staff is more cordial than before. There was a little misunderstanding about the beds in our rooms but it wasn't serious although they did not compensate us. Our rooms were good, maybe a little better than last time. Minibar is stupidly overpriced ($11 for a 6oz coke) go to the carrefour express in nearby place stephanie (this works well for breakfast too if you just want croissants etc). Bathrooms were better than I recall although maybe just a better room. Restaurant and bar were nice, staff was inconsistent, mostly excellent but rather distant host in the bar. Food was very good. Check out was smooth with NO fake charges I am happy to say (last time had hundreds of $ of imaginary minibar charges). Reserved through Priceline and got good rates.
All in all I would say it was a pleasant and uneventful stay, not a world class destination but nowhere in Brussels is and it's in a convenient part of town for us.

We spent two nights in this hotel. It is a compendium of pluses and negatives.

PLUS: Friendly greeting upon arrival, excellent front desk staff and good restaurant (we had breakfast only there), good location and secure parking.

NEGATIVES: Incompetent housekeeping (lost our laundry -- later found, and despite multiple phone calls, only got around to cleaning our room at 7:00 PM), barely working AC (in a full suite), design of suite not very well laid out.

We understand this is a new property for Steigenberger, it having been a "Conrad" as recently as 2 years ago. This most likely accounts for the hotel's rough edges. The hotel group needs to redouble its efforts to bring this property up to the standards of its others.

I stayed on a one night business trip. The hotel looks wonderful and is very impressive when you arrive, it really creates an expectation of five star luxury. The reception staff were excellent. There was a little confusion over my booking and whether it included wi-fi but with no fuss I was provided with wi-fi at no additional cost. The room was wonderfully comfortable. I loved the slightly old fashioned marble bathroom with separate bath tub and shower. The room was very comfortable and on a really hot sticky day I appreciated the a/c. I also liked being able to open my window and look on the roofs of Brussels at sunset. I also enjoyed the Nespresso coffee machine in the room. Mini bar prices were jaw dropping expensive. I ate in an italian restaurant about five minutes walk from the hotel. I didnt eat in the hotel as it was particularly quiet and had an almost cathedral like athmosphere so I thought it would be a rather solitary experience eating on my own in a vast space. Great breakfast served in a nice bright room. Four stars rather than five for my experience as while the hotel is very comfortable it lacked athmosphere.
