“Lovely meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Excellent service in this lovely little restaurant which is situated near Kappelekerk/Chappele area. The two guys who own/run the restaurant are a couple both whom appeared to compliment the ambience. The food was very good and menu choice was reasonable. Although it may appear a little pricey overall we found it to be good value for money. We were not disappointed. It's only fault was lack of handwashing facilities due to a broken handbasin...in my book a priority to be fixed.

“delicious food, friendly service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2012

A La Folie is a little bit off the well beaten tourist track, but caters for tourists with three excellent value menus. I had the mussels menu for 22 euros, which included a starter of white asparagus in season (a real delicacy), a kg of mussels in the truly outstanding house broth (choose this every time!) and dessert of waffle, ice cream and chocolate sauce. Bearing in mind that most restaurants charge 22-26 euros for the mussels alone, you can see this is really good value. My husband ate off menu, but only because he fancied (and enjoyed) a chocolate dessert that wasn't available. The 35 euro menu had fillet steak as its main course. The atmosphere was very pleasant (but very warm), and the people who served were efficient and very welcoming. For a restaurant close to the Grand Place, I'd definitely go back here!

“Quality dining, inviting ambiance and great value.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2012 via mobile

My husband and I decided to try this little resto because it appeared to be cozy and inviting and was very close to our B&B. It was Friday night and we walked in at 8:30 so we were lucky to get a table. The restaurant was small, but full and the place is decorated traditionally with old framed photo portraits, candelabras, & heavy furniture. The one waiter was kept hopping, efficiently taking orders, giving explanations to us about the choices and serving the food. He was friendly, but don't expect him to stand around your table too long chatting; he's just too busy. We had the menu Belges, a 3-course dinner for 25€ each, excellent value and the food was fresh and delicious. They had 3 different 3-course menus on the blackboard, plus an à la carte menu that changes every 6 weeks and all is written in Flemmish, French and English. We'd recommend this retaurant for small groups, couples and families with older or well behaved younger children who tolerate a slower dining experience.
