“Coffee favourite and antidote to tourist crush”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014

Aksum Coffee House is a stone's throw from the crush of the Grote Markt (Grand Place), sitting at the end of Spoormakersstraat (Rue Des Eperonniers), but it could hardly be further from the grasp of mass tourism
The shop is in a beautifully restored building but keeps to a strong Ethiopian theme in keeping with the freshly roasted coffee.
The espresso has an intense kick but with a subtle fruity aftertaste that will keep you going all day. The cheesecake was excellent too.
One might quibble about the consistency of the milk in the cappucino. But after walking the gauntlet of pushy restaurants and the endless shoddy merchandising of the already crap Mannequin Pis, Aksum gives Brussels some much needed cool - and hence deserves its top rating.

“Excellent coffee (especially on the Brussels scale)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

Really good coffee (superb if they woul change UHT milk to fresh). Still the best coffee in Brussels I have been able to find. Chocolate cake wasn't bad either.

“Best coffee in Brussels so far”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

First of all: even though the address is correct, the tripadvisor map still points to the old location which is about 1km away from the current one. So be aware!

The coffee and service in this place is really good and I would definitely recommend this to all you coffee lovers out there. Belgium is known for having the worst coffee in the world, but this place really does it differently.

“Fantastic coffee!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

Lovely, friendly place, and the coffee is mind blowing. This corner shop oozes Ethiopian charm, and has a crisp, genuine and authentic feel to it. I'm impressed by the simplicity of it :)

“Great Ethiopian coffee. Don't miss it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2014

Absolutely incredible coffee. Great service from the staff to boot. I ordered an americano and a cafelatte, and both were incredible. Really fragrant coffee. Saw a few other people ordering tea, and it could be smelt from a table away! You can also choose to buy a bag of their beans to have more of that really strong, fragrant coffee back at home! I'm tempted to go back to buy it right now.

It's really near Centraal station, so just pop by for a quick coffee to chill before continuing roaming Brussels.
