“Excellent value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

The hotel had excellent location. Rooms were new, clean and spacy. The breakfast was good, with lot of choices. Maybe staff could have been faster checking everything is availble. But that is only minus. We even had 3 persons in one room and it was spacy enough. And on the 4th floor it was quiet enough to sleep.

I recommend this hotel

Having had a pretty ordinary experience at the Novotel Monte Carlo earlier in the year, I was not really looking forward to staying in another Novotel hotel so soon, but work wise it was booked for me, so no choice.
What a complete difference!
Firstly the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful- could not do enough for you, especially the cheerful bar staff.
Early checkin was automatically given and my request for late checkout by several hours was also smilingly accommodated, despite the hotel being quite full.
As others have said, the location is extremely well situated, with plenty of quality eating places within a short walk.

Just a suggestion, but please consider adding some outdoor umbrellas to the outside drinking area when the weather is nice.
Oh and please Novotel, get rid of those cheap and nasty paper coffee cups in room- I'm sure it can't cause too much work for proper cups/mugs to be used. It just takes the edge off what was a reasonably appointed room.

The location is fantastic
The staff are really friendly
Breakfast was OK - though the staff in the restaurant either are overworked or there is no guidance - takes to long to clean tables..
Bar is OK - bartender was really nice
Rooms are good - could use a better cleaning in the morning but not to bad
The bed is surprisingly comfortable
WiFi is adequate
Parking is convenient and relative to Europe, not expensive
If in Brussels would look them up again

The best part of the hotel was the location. It can't be beat. 2-3mins walk to your left is Brussels Central Station. 2-3 mins walk to your right is the Grand Place. Room was decent though i thought it was silly to have the TV in the corner so far from the bed and there wasn't a sofa or chairs to sit on so we could sit nearer and look at the small screen. We ended up sitting on the floor to watch a movie. Good that there were English channels, a safe, kettle for tea & coffee, a gym, etc. Reception staff were friendly too. We had a good deal with Accor hotels too so this was really value for money. I'd stay there again for sure.

The hotel is in an excellent location, very close to the Grand Place. Lots of coffee shops and restaurants close by. Our room was well appointed with a large bed and sofa. The bathroom was lovely and had both a bath and walk in shower. Breakfast was fine but quite expensive at 23 €. There is also a city tax of around 7€ per night which we didn't know about when booking. All in all a really pleasant stay.

It is located in a right spot. Really Close to Grand Place, metro and train station. Easy to get there from/to airport - and it is ideal if you are in Brussels for one-two-three nights only.
What I also liked is that you actually have 3 beds in the room. One is queen size or so, and then there is another bed that you can split in two. My two kids don't like to sleep in one bed, so each of them had their own bed.

Booked the hotel on-line a couple of weeks before we travelled and got a really good rate. I've visited Brussels many, many times before and have stayed in an adjacent hotel a few times but was unable to book into it this time as it was full.

The Novotel is a bright modern hotel overlooking a small square which is about 1 minute or so walk to the Grand Place so prefectly located for sightseeing. One thing to watch out for though, we travelled by Euroster and picked up a cab outside Gare Midi, the journey took around 15/20 minutes and the tariff was just over 10 Euros. Having checked on my smartphone I found the distance was considerably under 2 miles and I suspect many cab drivers take a long route around the Periphery (a sort of poor man's M25) to raise the charge from, what should really be, a minimum. In fact on returning we actually walked from the hotel to Gare Midi with our baggage - it took 22 minutes!!

Back to the hotel, we arrived at noon which I had previously been told was the check in (and check out) time. There was an initial pause whilst a 'cleaned' room was identified but the checking in process was friendly and efficiently carried out and very soon we had our key cards. I was impressed that, for added security, the keycards also controlled the lifts in that they wouldn't go until the card had been inserted in the appropriate slot! Oh, the reception staff offered a free map of the city and, on request, identified a couple of nice eating establishments

Our room was great, (120), we walked into, what I can only describe as, a short corridor - bathroom to the right, seperate toilet (unusual in this type of modern hotel) the next right, then a hanging area before actually arriving in the room which was fairly large, double bed, two armchairs and table in a sitting area, seperate desk, part of which could swivel to 90 degrees to enlarge it, upright chair, flat screen TV (but only a couple of English speaking channels), mini bar fridge, kettle, safe and room controlled AC. Also free WiFi

The bathroom had a very large walk in shower, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries.

There was some slight traffic/pediatrian noise during the later evening/night but not enough to disturb.

Breakfast was really impressive, the hot plates contained the normal type food - sausages, scrambled eggs, bacon, small cubed potatoes, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes. there was a toaster for bread, waffles, various cheeses and cold meats, a variety of different types of bread, fruit, cereal, pastries, self serve tea and coffee.

For us the price was included in the room rate (which was good anyway) however I wouldn't have wanted to pay the 'normal' 23 Euros each for ANY breakfast!!

The hotel is well positioned to explore and nowhere in Brussels is really too far away and certainly all the normal touristy type places were within walking distance.

Checking out was easy and the hotel are willing to hold your baggage if you have a later train/flight. Noon is slightly later than normal checkout times and I'm a bit surprised that their check in and out times are the same (I specifically emailed the hotel prior to going to ask the question) - where's the window to make the rooms up??

All things considered, a good choice!!
