“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

I must say this was spectacular. The early days are much nicer as the flowers fade and the colors are not so vibrant after the first two days or so.

We paid 5 euros to get up a balcony to see the flower carpet from higher grounds. There isn't much to see in the building itself. The crowd is definitely going to be massive so it's a little uncomfortable to be up in that relatively narrow balcony trying to snap a few good pictures along with everyone else. There is a stairways to get up and strollers and other wider objects will definitely be challenging.

“Flower Carpet was beautiful!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

We went during the flower carpet exhibition. It was spectacular. The early days are much nicer as the flowers fade and the colors are not so vibrant after the first two days or so.

Even without the flower carpet, this place/square is full of tourist and it's vibrance is welcoming for tourists. The architecture is beautiful as well...very good for photos!

“Historic buildings & restaurants to view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

The Grand Place is centrally located in Brussels and is has one of the most beautiful medieval squares in Europe, the ornate Grand Place is the center of Brussels, where many historic buildings dating from the 17th century are located. The square measures 68 by 110 metres and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are many restaurants surrounding the square and we ate at La Chaloupe d Or which was crowded on a friday nite..and followed by listening and watching the colorful performance of the lights at the Christmas tree .

The performance was held only during the X;mas season and the futuristic christmas tree was dismantled on Sunday, 30 Dec in the morning..

“stunning buildings an great at Christmas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

We have been to Bruges at Christmas but never Brussels, so decided this year to see what it was like. all I can say is that it's stunning! The rather unorthodox take on the Christmas tree made for a.great focal point to the square an the €4 fee to climb it gave us a great view of what has to be one of the finest gothic plazas in Europe. It is buzzing with people gazing at the fantastic, ornate, buildings lit.up with a brilliant light show. There are bars, shops and restaurants ringing it and even our little ones were amazed by the sights and sounds. If you're going to Brussels you will head there I expect - you won't be disappointed whatever time of year you visit.
