“Lovely church”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

St Nicholas is a lovely quiet church, with a lot of history. There was an amazing art display while I was there featuring sheets of all things. Great for some quiet contemplation, and to escape the business of Brussles.

“A historic church for a quiet visit on Sunday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Conveniently located at Rue au Beurre, Brussels and is easily reached by Metro at station Bourse Beurs. This Catholic church dates back 1,000 years old and showed some remains of the original structure. Its 11th-century Romanesque lines are hidden by a 14th-century Gothic facade and the repairs made after the French bombardment of 1695. A cannonball fired by the French in 1695 is still lodged in one of the pillars.

The church has a small painting of "The Virgin and Child " by Rubens and is open to the public for visit and veneration.

We went there on Sun 30 Dec at 10 am and was pleasntly surprised that there was an English mass said by an English speaking franciscan priest. It was the best x'mas experience for us as we were there on Friday nite to take in the sights of the Christmas market & Lights at the Grand Place and not aware of the mass times.

For a quiet place to reflect, this would be an ideal church as it is centrally located and easy to find.

“Inside and outside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

The catolic Church dates back almost 1000 years, not so much left from that time, but one can find pieces from 12 and 13 century, free of charge, everyone must visit during stay in Brussels, outside the church one can engoy street musisians, some of them very good.
