“Wonderful food and service, if a little hard to find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

If it wasn't for an earlier reviewer saying the only sign is on the window, i would have given up and gone elsewhere. Admittedly it was raining heavily and the kids were getting hungry, but i am glad we persevered.
The atmosphere was pretty cool, the menu not too hard to work out, and the staff were attentive and pleasant, even as it got busier and busier. Our food was wonderful, warm and filling and the bread on the table was a delightful bonus. It was more than i would have paid at home, but well, we were on holiday.
Do be prepared though, they don't take plastic money.
Well worth getting wet for.

“A nice dinner out with the family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

This resto was recommended to us by friends and we chose to experience it on our birthday at the end of October of this year. We travel with kids and found it perfectly suitable, they had a half-size offering of a one of their dishes.
The decor is quite casual, yet trendy and the food was good. A decent chalk-boarded selection of main courses with aperitifs and wines to accompany the meal. We tried a couple of desserts and found them both good as well.

They do not take reservations so I recommend you have an early dinner (6pm or so), we arrived at around that time and the place filled up completely throughout our dinner stay. The service was good, they seem like an effective team.

“Must do”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013 via mobile

Great experience, awesome food. We went here last night for dinner quite busy we didn't have to wait too long for a table. The menu is on the wall to read, unfortunately not in English so we had to do a little guessing at times. But all adds to the experience. Once we figured the menu we ordered the sausages and beef stew with a salad the meals were delicious, sizes are very large and the prices are great!
Definitely a must when in Brussels

“do not, DO NOT, miss this hidden gem in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

I can't even begin to say how GREAT it was. Four of us went there. It was actually not that hard to find (from the front of st. Catherine, get on to the right side of the cross roads and follow along the main street filled with restaurants before turning left for about 20m then right again onto a street called Oude Graanmarkt with a lot of restaurants too. then keep following the street and turn left at the third junction. you should be able to see Rue des Chartreux which is the street name at the junction on the corner of some building), but well, being tourists in a foreign land, we got a bit lost and only managed to find the place about 45 minutes later.

It was crowded by the time we reached and we had to wait about 15-20 minutes for a table. but boy, was it worth the wait. We ordered leg of pork, rabbit meat, stoemp, and some kind of meat dumpling wrapped in cabbage (ask the service staff what they recommend if you want to taste traditional Belgian cuisine!) THE LEG OF PORK WAS PURE HEAVEN. the meat was soooo tender! you haven't truly eaten pork till you try this, seriously. Rabbit meat was meh, not awful but maybe just not our type of meat. stoemp (sausages with mashed potatoes) was really good too, the potatoes were really smooth and buttery. the meat dumpling was also great, but really, nothing could beat that leg of pork. be sure to try that there!! In total each of us spent ~19 EUR (including a bottle of juice each which was about 4 EUR), which was really value for money given the quality of food we had!

one note of caution though, the servings are humongous. especially for four Asian girls. we were so stuffed after the meal we could barely stagger out of the crowded restaurant. so unless you've starved the entire day or skipped a meal, you may wish to consider sharing!

Despite how crowded and busy the place was, the service staff were still very friendly and professional! The guy who served us even patiently explained each dish he recommended to us)

Oh yeah, and they don't have menus served on the table, except for beverages. everything is written on this blackboard near the cashier so do take a look while waiting for a table so you can take orders straight after being seated! (it's hard to grab the attention of the staff there when it's so busy)

“Nice and inexpensice italian place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Now this is an cosy belgian-italian corner restaurant which is almost always full, which is no wonder: the food is very good and in fact inexpensive. The place is perfect for a romantic dinner. Reservation is necessary! Only minus: the chairs are not very confortabe. Still, to be recommended!
