“Great location!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

I stayed for one night in December in this hotel. The highlight is definitely thelocation - a few hundred meters away from Gare Centraal and very close to Grand place. Even though its close to train station there was not much noise as the hotel is located in the middle of a small side street.

The rooms were clean, ok decorated but looked a bit worn down and could use some fresh paint. The room was quite dark so if you plan to work/read - inspite of nice desk -that might be a bit difficult. Hotel advertises that all the rooms have minibar, however the one in my room was empty. Service was nice and friendly.

The hotel is ok, and would recommend it especially if you want to stay close to Gare centraal, but would say that this is more a 3 stars hotel.

I spent one night in November in this Hotel. The greatest advantage is its location, you can find it in a quiet street right by the Central Railway Station, an within close distance to the city centre.
I found the reception and restaurant staff quite friendly and helpful, wifi is available without a fee and there is a quiet athmosphere in the bar.
The room was just okay, nothing special, a bit outdated and it is a pity that they did not offer minibar service. The bathroom was fine, clean, no complaints there. The bed was comfy. The only negative thing was a broken lamp with sharp edges hanging in the room....

The breakfast was nothing spectacular, but they offer good selection.

The overall price was high, but that is unfortunately common in Brussels. I would stay again.

I stayed at Sandton centre for a business trip on december. The hotel is just 5min from the Gare Central and the entrance of the metro is just on the corner of the street. The stars perhaps are a bit overestimates, like the hotel prices, but in the nearby I didn't find cheaper ones. The windows of the rooms look directly into the front building (offices) but what I really didn't like were in order of importance:
1) There was quite a big buzzing noise up to 22:00 caused by the air condition plant of the front builiding. It starts again at 05:30 am.
2) There was no italian channel on TV.
3) I made four phone calls from the hotel room: they cost me almost 100 euro.
I didn't care for hotel breackfast please note that on the opposite of the hotel gate, there is Croissanterie that serves a nice breackfast for 4.30 euro. It open at 7:00 am. Plenty of restaurants in 10min walk. Thus for business ( just sleeping and riding ) was good.

Room Tip: the room from 5 to 7 floor are good

this hotel is very centrally located and very convenient for those who need or want to be close to the central station and also the grande place. this is more a 3 stars hotel, the room was nice the bathroom also but i.e. the day I arrived I just found one medium size towel and the toilet paper was at the end...and no extra roll in the toilet. not for a 4 starts hotel to be honest. i did not have breakfast, the room was quite quiet and medium size. the day i left they had issues with the heating system so i could not take my shower in the morning cause it took several hours before the issue was fixed. this can happen but to be honest it cannot happen that it takes so many hours and that the guests are not informed - I had to phone the reception kind of 5 times to ask for updates. they then tried to be nice when i departed and decided to give me a 17 euros discount...maybe they shall have offered me the 20 euros breakfast.. or so. it was not nice to go to work with no shower taken. as to the rest, the personnel is ok but again not that exceptional, ie. the evening I got to the hotel, NO ONE said "hello" or "welcome". bit strange. if u need a kind of ok hotel to sleep and this is it, then it is fine.

During a two night stay I know I was one of several guests to complain about the lack of heating in rooms. It was never fixed or addressed by staff. There is no room service or indeed food to be had except at breakfast. The bar is run by staff who don't know sherry from Shiraz. Another hotel in Brussels to avoid. The Stanhope is miles better. 3 mins walk to Central Station if that is important to you. A wholly unsatisfactory experience.

We spent a weekend in Ghent in the Sandton Reylof and because we had to stay overnight for one night in brussels and because we had such a good service in Ghent, we chose this hotel hoping to have the same. Major dissapointment ! Check in was smooth, the room (altough asked for a deluxe with a king size bed) was smaller than expected and had two beds against each other. Because it was just for one night we didn't bother to protest. Our greatest dissapointment was the breakfast buffet. Only openend at 8 am and when we did arrive at 8.10 it still was not complete, still no coffee, no croissants...it came but not with service. When asked to have an espresso it was simply refused. Also the setting in the bar was not good. The quality was not up to the 4 stars the hotel has. Finally what put me off the most : we did chose this hotel because it's smoke free. When you smell smoke in corridors and even in your room you get annoyed, when they tell you to fine you when you smoke but they do nothing to control it, let alone fine somebody, the people like us staying next to the dirty smokers in room next to yours pay the price. I could not leave more in a hurry than i did. If this hotel should carry the quality of Sandton it has to change rappidly or close down. Very dissapointing.

Room Tip: high and the street with the hotel entrance are the best noice-wise to chose

Sandton is located very close to Brussels centraal which is very convenient. Nicely designed rooms and great bed. Breakfast: Seen better in far cheaper hotels - but still ok (if you can get the waiter to bring the coffee). Turn offs: Wake up calls are not supposed to arrive 8 minutes late and even though the staff is friendly it is as if they dont really care. But alltogether: recommended.
