“Remarkable place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

Great location in beautiful Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, very elegant place, love it. Our room was wonderful and unique, finely decorated and with a big bathroom, there were free drinks in a fridge near the room and good breakfasts. Christophe and Thierry, thanks a lot!

The B&B is uniquely set in the Galleria de la Reine just a block from the train station and the Grand Place. The rooms (sitting room, bedroom and very large bath) are spacious and well decorated with interesting art work and a nice mix of modern and antiques. The kitchen is shared and the fridge is stocked with beer, soft drinks and water. There is also coffe and tea to make and chocolates! Breakfast included breads, jams, fruit served in charming little canning jars and bacon and eggs that house guests had to cook themselves (a bit disconcerting- no one did). We had a difficult time finding the B&B-there is no more than a small 8x11 sign giving the inn keeper's phone and e-mail contacts and once found, we had to wait to have someone let us in. Be prepared to be on your own-while friendly, the innkeeper was not around during our stay and gave a quick explanation on working keys, elevator, etc.
Also, be prepared to pay in cash!!! A bit of a surprise but there is a currency exchange just down the street.

Very good B&B. Simple but with charme. Excellent location (1 min walking grand place, 5 min central station). Owners very friendly. Excellent breakfast, toghether with other hosts (coffee, milk, fruits, aggs, delicios jam and more). Nothing to complain.

GREAT location, only steps away from the Grand Place and very close to the train station. Elevator to the second floor made it very convenient. The breakfast offered many selections and was delicious. The staff was attentive and provided access to complementary water and beer in a fridge right outside our door. The only suggestion I have is that the information on their website include clear directions from the train station. Because of the nature of the location (in a gallery of stores) google map directions took us the long way around and were unclear. It took some asking around to find the storefront. A bit of a chore while dragging luggage on the cobblestone streets. That being said, I would highly recommend the Vaudeville for your stay in Brussels!

I stayed in Le Vaudeville for three nights as part of an extended break to Bruges and Brussels. The location of Le Vaudeville appealed most and I was not disappointed. Based inside Galerie de la Reine, the B&B is a 5 minute walk from the Grand Place and the central train station. It was a perfect location from which to explore the Belgian capital.

The positives were the aforementioned location and the stylish rooms. Upon our welcome, we were upgraded to the Diva room as we were warned about a party taking place at the private hire Theatre de Vaudeville next door which was set to be very noisy. The room was smart and clean, with a roll top bath, massive shower and a welcoming present of chocolate. The free drinks – including Belgian beers – in the Smeg fridge were also a very welcome bonus!

That said, there were downsides which are worth mentioning. The bed in the room was not particularly comfortable and, being so central, the noise from the Galerie would certainly annoy a light sleeper – the noise of the party did reach us in the end as well! The room had the tendency to get incredibly warm too as the Galerie that surrounds it acts like a greenhouse. Whilst it was fine for our visit because it was quite cool and rainy, a visit in the height of summer might be too much. The breakfasts were good and plentiful – the highlight being the artisan preserves on offer, but the fact that cooking anything like bacon or eggs was do-it-yourself left us a bit self-conscious. The electric hobs took an age to warm up too so cooking in the end really wasn’t worth it. Getting hold of the owners who didn’t speak much English, Thiery and Christophe, was always a bit tricky – even for things like toilet paper - too so make sure your mobile works abroad if you visit and practice your French!

Overall, I enjoyed my visit. The location is perfect and there’s plenty to like about Le Vaudeville. Having someone on hand a bit more often would probably have bumped this review up a notch.

I stayed in Galeries at the start of September for what must be the fifth time. It's just the sexiest place to stay in Brussels. The location is incomparable and Thierry and Christophe are si sympa. Amazing breakfast, free beer and chocolate and history coming out of its ears. Unbeatable.
