“Top spot!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013 via mobile

This place is really great. Great service and great food. It has a lovely cosy ambience and whilst it isn't fancy it's good Belgian fare. My party all had a super time and would definitely recommend and go back.

“Lovely - with some doubts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

Le petit boxeur looks great. Dark walls but lots of mirrors and small lamps, small but stylish. Very friendly service. We tried the white house wine (a sauvignon blanc) which was pretty good.
However, I still have some doubts about the food. Maybe the cook didn't have his very best day, so compare my description with those of others to get an idea.
My friend started with a correct carpaccio - but that only tells you something about the quality of the ingredients of course. My starter consisted of really good chicken ravioli in a veal sauce with just a hint of truffle (actually, too much just a "hint" to mention it on the menu). We were disappoinbted in our main dish - a risotto with scallops and scampis that was also supposed to be prepared "with truffle" - not the slightest shadow of a truffle taste this time. Worse, the risotto was more perfumed and milky than a real risotto - the scallops and scampis had been baked and were served separately. All in all, too weak in taste. We finished our meal with a crème brûlée that was just correct, nothing exceptional.
Three courses and wine came at 52 euros each which is, sadly, not exceptional in the center of Brussels.
So I'm not sure. I'll probably give them a second chance. The place looks just too great.

“A great find near the Grand Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

The small but comfortable restaurant is within five minutes walk from the Grand Place, usually a very touristic area, yet the food is excellent and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious.

“Nice atmosphere, fine food.....but there was a mouse.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Le Petit Boxeur ,situated in the centre of Brussels, was at first instance a good choice we made.

Staff is very friendly, prices are ok, choice of dishes is good.

Interior is nice, combined with the music and friendly staff it creates a pleasant ad relaxed atmosphere.

Dishes and wine are of high quality for very reasonable prices.

Nevertheless one remark to maken: we spotted a mouse close to the stair that takes you down the basement, and reported this to the staff. Unknown if any action was undertaken.

Hopefully the landlord will start appropriate actions.

“Le petit boxeur - fit for the Marquess of Queensbury himself!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013 via mobile

This is my 4th visit to the pearl of Brussels - the atmosphere is fantastic - brilliant setting - nina simone on the air waves- doesn't get any more classic. Food was brilliant - start was the special of lightly seared octopus with a leaf and tomatoes salad - excuse me there is a party going on in my mouth! Accompanied by the waiter recommend Loire Sauvignon - over the higher priced Sancerre! Main was sole with a shrimp and white cream sauce - classic! Bread to beat the band with gratis. Finished with a fromage plate designed to content the Cheshire or Cheshire cats - accompany by a lovely drop of red - again recommend by the fantastic waiter who could not be more helpful! Can't wait to back - but remember the 1st rule of fight club- Wouldn't like to not get in!
