My wife and I visited Cafe Belga on Sunday lunchtime with our daughter (who lives in Brussels). It was immediately clear that Cafe Belga was extremely popular but we managed to squeeze into some seats in the corner. The experience was totally different to typical franchised eateries in the UK. There was an air of controlled chaos. There was one line queuing for drinks, another for food. Most of the locals were downing Belgian beer I ordered a drink and the barman did some fancy Tom Cruise type moves to pour the beer with a grin on his face. Although basic bread cheese and salads; the food was pretty good for the price and there was plenty of it. Overall despite the chaos and the fairly basic décor I liked Cafe Belga, also the diversity and friendliness of the clientele: so a memorable dining experience.
