We booked a room for three; husband, teenager and me. An arm chair folded out into a single bed, with two additional single beds. The room had enough space for luggage. We stayed in the building next to the main hotel. The Lodge is not far from a Carrefour supermarket and about a km from St. John's International School. It's a short walk to the main street, Chaussee de Bruxelles, with many stores, restaurants and boutiques. The price of the room included a generous breakfast buffet, including eggs, sausages, bacon, cereals, joghurt, etc. The flat screen tv provided a variety of channels in different languages: German, Dutch, English, French, etc.

There was a party of eight of us we stayed for three nights arriving Sunday about 16.00hrs. The Hotel is split into a main building and an annex, this is where we stayed. All the rooms faced the main road, as long as you kept the window shut there was no noise We reported to the reception in the main building where we were given our credit card type entrance and room keys. All pleasant and efficient unfortunatly one of our group who took the directions how to get to the Annex ( a full 30mtrs from the Hotel entrance ) misunderstood, took us round the side of the building along to a door where we procceded unknown to us to try to break into the Ing Bank, they share the other half of the building. It was indeed fortunate that a local walking the path next to the Bank pointed out it was not really a good idea as we were about to make a second charge at the door. He probably saved us from at least a night in some Brussels jail. I am sorry for the delay you want know about the Hotel, well it did not do anything wrong it was clean the rooms contained a shower, safe, air Conditioning, fridge (empty) and no tea making facilities, with enough area to walk around with out catching the Bed. The main building was a bit like walking into a Cathedral a very high roof with the Dinning room at the far end you could never say anything else other than it was smart and clean. The Breakfast was more adequate than exciting with a cooked choice in some heated containers, never going to be as good as one cooked in the Kitchen while you are having a starter. We had to eat out on arrival as the Restaurant was closed Sundays. We went almost opposite the Hotel to a Fish Restaurant which was excellent, the Reception were very helpful and gave us several choices all well within walking distance, those we tried were all good. The Hotel Restaurant was alright without being outstanding. It really boils down to what you want from a Hotel the good news is it did everything we wanted and was set in a good area , the staff who make or break any Hotel were friendly and as we found with all Belgium people we met, they were all pleasant and helpful.. Maybe it was more of a Business Hotel than somwhere you would stay to be cosseted , if this is the style of Hotel you want then you wont be disappointed

Room Tip: Rooms facing the main road were good .

My wife and had a pleasant two nights stay at the hotel over Easter.
The hotel is located just on the edge of Waterloo, and takes about 10 minutes to walk into the town. There are a few restaurants and bars near by, and just over the road is a large Supermarket.
The town did seem to shut down on a Sunday, making it quite restricted for eating out. The Hotel bar was also closed.
We stayed in the Lodge which is adjacent to the main Hotel. The room was nicely decorated. The only downside for us was that the air conditioning was noisey even when switched off. It wasn't anoying enough to complain, but was quite distracting.
The breakfast taken in the main hotel was excellent, with a large variety of hot and cold food.
If we were in the area again, we would certainly consider staying there again, as long as the price was right.

Room Tip: Request your preference of a twin or double room when booking. Avoid room 11 as the aircon was noise...

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This year my father and I decided on a change during our annual trip to Walcheren, to commemorate the Liberation in November 1944. We would usually sail straight into Rotterdam, but this year my father wanted to see the memorial to 1918 war, at Zebrugge. Whilst in Belgium, we decided to take in the Waterloo museums, which were very interesting. We stayed at The Martins Grand Hotel, in the Martins Lodge. The facilities were excellent. My father is in a wheelchair, and the access and layout of the bedroom and bathroom were first rate. Disabled access to the main hotel was via a side entrance, over a cobbled surfice, which was a slight hinderence. The resturaunt was very grand, and the food was delicious, and served by very attentive staff. Check in and check out was very smooth.
We only stayed the one night, but I would return if in the area again

Room Tip: I can only comment on our room, which was a disabled accessable room. If you do travel with a disabl...

We stayed here for 3 nights to see the Waterloo battlefield and found the rooms to be clean, quiet and comfortable. You sleep in the lodge, which is right next to the hotel, and the bar, restaurant and fitness room is in the hotel part. The breakfast was plentiful and of a good quality. I would have liked tea and coffee makings in the room but this is a small point. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a really nice, cosy and comfortable place to stay. I've stayed there on many occasions and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Cleanliness is excellent and has that "fresh" feel about it.
It is not five star, but, as it ajoins the Grand Hotel, it would give some of those a run for their money.
The breakfast is very good, has free car parking and is within one hour from Brussels.
I found it reasonable, but, you need to make prior reservations.

Room Tip: Can be an easy location for business trips and some historical sites are nearby. It is quiet. Some v...
