I work for the Accor company, and i picked this Hotel as i thought it would be one of those new marvellous ibis Styles that i was used to see either on trainings, or guest feedback. Turns out that the only good point on its favour was the location, as it is just 1 min away from the airport shuttle stop and 2 or 3 to the train station. During the night is very noise as its close to 1 or 2 night clubs and some bistros on the same street. the hotel information was not up to date, still anouncing the Ibis Business card at the price as it was in 2013, not even showing that if you purchase it you can be upgraded imediately to a gold membership.
The carpet on each floor was dreadfull, i would even say that has more stains than clean patches, i would suggest to replace it or at least start cleaning it everyday. Also the information that is displayed on the lifts doesnt correspond to the one on the guest services booklet as it states that breakfast is served until 10.30 on week days and 10.45h on weekends but in the room shows up as 10.30h week days and 11h on weekends.
The room had an eggy smell, but it looked like it was cleaned,no hairs in the bathroom or in bed. The bed and the pillow were awfull, not confy at all and they actually ruinned my last day as i couldnt even move my neck as it was that painful, spent all day travel askind my husband , to even helping me to get the coat or boots on, nothing like the sweet beds at Ibis, 3 days for the pain to disappear. The hairdryer was very old and was always over heating and there was no actual closet, only something where you can hang your coats on, but with no doors, the towels were always changed, even when hanged on the door.
The sink had a little leak, but we didnt even bother to report it as we solved the issue moving the toilett bin underneath.
Our room was number 403, with view to the square, there is a supermarket just on the side and other across the road, and its an easy walk into downtown from there, you can also see a zoo and the "Antwerpen eye" from the window which is just in front of the main train station - quiet handy !
There was no tea or coffe facilities inside the room, you would need to go downstairs to the lobby to get a coffee or a pastry (like the ones served on breakfast) which is frustrating as you cant make a frsh coffee as soon as you wake up.
The Breakfast was very simple, personaly i think they could do with more variety of cheese and maybe have olive oil handy for guest as they also serve salad. I believe the breakfast is included with all the rooms, so you could maybe introduce some more products or add english/american brekfast and charge extra for it.
Nice touch offering a complemetary bottle of water on the first day,but i would suggest you to try to improve your services and instead of water, maybe adding to the room a little bottle of local beer, that would increase the guests satisfaction.
The only good point of that Hotel was the staff, they were very helpfull and would be there for what you would need.
overall experience was not pleasent, and we think with some colourfull paint you wont be able to mask the old building, definitely would not consider the hotel an Ibis styles.
