I arrived by train in Antwerp. At first I was impressed by its innovative architecture: train platforms at different levels - I had seen that already in Berlin, but in Antwerp the effect is even more striking. I then walked into the hall: I though it was some Royal Palace or something of the sort. A friend told me that when the station was built, it had to be a sign of Belgium's opulence...well they certainly got it right - this amazing building is rightfully considered one of the most perfect and beautiful examples of railway architecture in the world.
