“not bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

the room was a bit small, but relatively clean. staff is good, we had no problems at all. comfortable beds. free drinks and snacks at the lobby with free Wi-Fi. they also have a nice open area where you can sit and enjoy the free drinks.

The first day there was some funky smell coming from outside, but the next day it was fine. the location of the hotel was not bad either. Its not the best, but I liked it.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. We had never been to Antwerp and wanted a central location. The location is excellent, close to everything yet on a quiet block. We had a first floor room with private terrace - very nice but for security you would need to keep the French doors shut at night. The room was small but nicely furnished and luxurious. The bathroom was also small but very clean and modern. A separate toilet was a nice touch. The staff was very helpful and Joachim kindly offered us a glass of port when checking in. The breakfast buffet was delicious and abundant. Also snacks are offered in the afternoon. Checkout is noon which was convenient and they arranged for a cab to take us to the train station. Antwerp is a very interesting city and we would like to return - and stay here again.

I had heard of the Rubens Hotel but never had the opportunity of staying there. We arrived late in the evening to a nice clean (but slightly old) room in the first floor (104). Had a good nights sleep and came downstairs to a very nice buffet breakfast. The Rubens is an old hotel but very cozy and reasonably priced. Try it out!

Recently spent two nights in Hotel Rubens. A great location near to the Grote Market and walking distance to the many local attractions. A friend and I had a really spacious twin bedded room with good size bathroom and separate toilet, always a great idea in my book! The breakfast had plenty of the usual fare both hot and cold. Staff were extremely helpful with directions and recommending restaurants. Also on the Thursday night it was a very nice treat having complimentary wine and nibbles in the reception area. All in all would highly recommend.

I have stayed at this beautiful hotel a number of times now. The rooms are nice and clean and the beds are very comfortable. The location could not be better being near the city sites and the bars and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. It's very nice being greeted with a glass of sherry or port to warm you up and in the weekday evenings there are free tapas to enjoy.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice

the position of the hotel is perfect next to it there is the grote market parking, but I believe that the hotel itself has its own parking . The room, I stayed on ,was very big with wooden floor. The bathroom was dated but there was a bad smell on it separated from the toilet . The tv has a lot of channels, and there were all the main italian channels( 6) it is very unusual. the breakfast is good and very nice the aperitif that they are offering you on the evening. The hotel pretend to be very elegant but the result is an average one. The price is not very cheap but I stayed in other hotel in the city and was in line with the others

The entire hotel is very clean.
The breakfast still is very good, with something for everyone.
The staff are friendly
But the storage for baggage for early arrivals is a little hap-hazzard. Our room #11 was not ready and we were told to put our bags in a closet near the entry. There is no numbered ticket for your bags and anyone, everyone has access to this closet. I guess it is on the "honor system".
The maintance is another issue.
Room #11- the mirrored closet door, one was cracked, broken. Fortunatley the front desk was aware of this and they did not think we broke the mirror.
The liquid soaps and lotions were not replenished on the second day.
The mini bar- half of the drinks were past their sell-by-date.
I know I could have told the front desk of this, but I don't think it is my responsibilty to do so. I think it is a lack of supervision of housekeeping.
There are lots of positives about this hotel, but with these negatives I think the hotel is a little overpriced.

Room Tip: We have stayed in #10 and #11 garden rooms. If you want a very private garden terrace #11 is a good...
