“Great conference hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

Cool H

I have used this hotel on many occasions for conferences over the years and more recently last week, The self contained meeting space is on the ground floor and works very well. The hotel staff are very efficient, friendly and very flexible.
Free wifi through out hotel, the shuttle bus from Brussels airport stops right outside the front door of hotel and then continues into the centre of Antwerp. The hotel has a very quirky swimming pool. I would recommend this hotel for either business or pleasure.

this house is a classic example for a succesfully restored architectural crime from the 70ies. from the outside you expect the typical concrete bunker that was regarded "cool" some 40 years ago, but upon entering the lobby you'll know: this is refurbished, and nicely too. interesting artwork meets google map carpets and wallpapers, and while this sounds a bit weird on paper it actually works.

i must say i do like the chain, the crown plazas in this world usually served me well. this here is no exemption. super friendly reception staff checks you in, the rooms are tidy and spacious enough, the beds new and sport enough pillows to impress the princess on the pea, there's very stable and rather quick (free for a limited use) wifi, the bathroom is spotless and modern without being pretentious, and the water pressure of the shower is kicking. all the other amenities are where you expect them, from the ironing board in the dresser and a water kettle with free coffee and tea, to ample storage space everywhere.

the meeting rooms are overly complete and suit everything from small board meetings to slightly larger department conferences. they are lacking a business center, but there's personal printing service via email. but bring your own computer.

while the breakfast is perfectly fine, complete, fresh, nicely presented and stocked right up to the end time, the main restaurant could have a bit more of a choice. what they have on the menue is very good, but i found it somewhat limited in variety.

there's a little shop-like chiller next to reception where you can fill your minibar, and room service goes until quite late.

what made the stay utterly pleasant, however, was the thorough and genuine attention of the staff. friendly and caring, yet not trying to overserve you, is everyone delightful, from clenaing ladies to the general manager, who personally checked on my stay and made a very late checkout possible.

location isn't exactly close to all, but there's public transportation right in front of the main entrance and cabs standing by at all times. expect 10 euros cab fare to the main rail station, the bus is 2 euros and takes 15 minutes.

there's a very cool pool area, which can serve as a party space as well, and a spa area, but i haven't been there.

all in all, if i ever have to do business in antwerp again (which i hope, it's a nice town), this is the place for me to go.

Nothing wrong with this hotel at all. It is like walking into any Crown Plaza Hotel anywhere in the world. Standard features, services, rooms, etc. Everything clean and as you'd expect. This particular Crown Plaza has even had a bit of a makeover, and the reception lobby is adorned with lots of interesting local artwork, and tales of Antwerp's history.

Unfortunately the hotel is situated out of the City Centre (10 min taxi ride away). This in itself can't be helped and is no reason to give a poor review. The problem is, the hotel is nestled in between two very busy highways. As a result not one room evades the incessant traffic noise coming from these roads 24hrs per day.

My first night here was spent drinking a fair amount of wonderful Belgian beer. So when I got back to the hotel I crashed and went straight to sleep. 3hrs later I was woken as I gradually became conscious of the traffic noise coming from outside. Thinking it must be morning, I panicked somewhat and checked my alarm. It was 3am. I looked out of the rather thinly glazed window and saw an endless stream of traffic. I checked the windows to see if they'd been left open at all, but they were locked albeit somewhat loose and rattley.

I can't understand why this has never been taken into consideration by the hotel. Clearly the location and risk of sound pollution must have been known when they built the hotel?

Anyway, its not all bad. Just remember to take some earplugs, or drink approximately 5 more glasses of Kwak than I did which should see you through to 6am.

very nice hotel, typically for buisness, but we were going for tourism and it was also good because the bus stop was outside the lobby and it takes you to the city centre in just 15 minutes. Beds are comfortable, tea and coffee in rooms. Breakfast was excellent with wide variety of cold and hot items. Restaurant for dinner is amazing, food is very tasty and ok for price.

Rooms are well proportioned. Good free wifi service. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Very reasonably priced. The hotel is a fair way out of the city but the price reflects that. Hotel is opposite the bus stop that takes you into the city. Great for a weekend stay

I love staying at this Crowne Plaza as the internet is fast, the rooms clean and large enough, good bathrooms and best of all a decent place to eat downstairs. Yes it is a bit out of downtown Antwerp though its only a 10euro cab ride or you can take public transport. Strongly recommend as the staff is friendly and always bends over backwards to help out.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better.

Last weekend I was a tourist in my own country and was visiting Antwerp and I stayed 2 nights at the Crowne Plaza Antwerp. My family and I had a very warm welcome of Matthias. Our room was nice and comfortable for us and our 2 daughters. They enjoyed staying at the Crowne Plaza. The breakfast was very nice, the dinner was top, the swimming pool was great, etc...
The hotel is not in the centre of Antwerp, but the centre is really not far away and easy accessable with the public transport just in front of the hotel.
I saw also the skylounge meeting rooms, and I'm convinced that this hotel is having all the facilities that a company can ask for. Even the pool area can be booked for company events.
The Crowne Plaza hotel is having a warm, friendly and professional approach. I will come back.

Room Tip: the higher you go (floor), the better the view is on Antwerp, especially with the night lights on th...
