“Clean, convenient and decent value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

Booking a twin room via a 3rd party hotel site only 3 weeks before we stayed made me apprehensive about what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised.

The location is great, a short stroll from the train station and the zoo. The room was much bigger than expected and the en suite was huge. The room was clean and looked out on to the back of other buildings which was fine as it meant a peaceful night's sleep. A Nespresso machine and (empty) fridge was a welcome touch and the free wifi was reliable.

Breakfast was a simple buffet affair with the small drawback of the coffee machine being out of order and no replacement available despite there being a Nespresso machine in every room. Our room was air conditioned too which was great as it was quite a humid week.

Staff were friendly and helpful and considering we had the option to use the spa/leisure facilities of the sister Radisson Blu a short walk away I think it was pretty good value for summertime and booking at short notice.

Stayed at Radisson Blu - across the road - on previous visit, so comparing with that. Basically, good business class hotel, but lacking in facilities. Apparently, you can use the other Radisson facilities such as parking, sauna, restaurant..., but I didn't bother. Breakfast at the hotel was a kind of afterthought, with a selection of mediocre cooked and uncooked dishes. The fresh orange was 'watered down' to the extent you couldn't taste the orange at all.
Would I go back to this hotel?
Probably not.

The Park Inn is located a few steps from the station. The hotel has is typicaly a 'no thrills' kind of hotel, but the value for money is great. I took the business-class rooms, which are a little larger, and have free (high-speed) wifi and breakfast. Bathrooms are spacy, but I had some problems with the water. I took a room in the back (less noise) but the view was really bad (looking towards an old wall, and a roof). Next time I take a view on the square. Breakfast is fine, just good enough. Public parking under the square, a few steps away. You can use the pool and the spa in the Radisson Blu, 50 meters from this hotel for free. For the money (I paid 129 Euro/night) this is an excellent option in the center of Antwerp.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are quite, but the view is really bad (walls, roofs).

Last friday we have spent one night at this hotel. At check-in we got a free upgrade to a junior suite (upper floor). Very spacious room, with balcony and nice view at the Astrid square. It is a modern place and very clean. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, there are many places near the station (for example Le Pain Quotidien) to start your day. But we liked the Nespresso machine in the room, nice touch. The area around the hotel isn't really interesting, but there are some good restaurants in Chinatown that starts across the Astrid Square.

We stayed here on a mini-break and appreciated the convenience of being close to the amazingly grand main train station, and in a square where trams took one off to the old town. The hotel staff welcomed us cheerfully on our arrival, and helped us find tourist attractions and restaurants. Our rooms were comfortable, clean, and modern; good for business clients. There was no restaurant within the hotel. The breakfast area was on the ground floor and part of the lobby, but the self-service buffet breakfast was extensive and the staff were charming and helpful. The coffee machine was an enigma, but help was at hand! The Radisson Blu across the square has a good restuarant and offered a discount to Radisson Park Inn residents.
The surrounding area was not the most salubrious, until you came to the diamond shops around the side of the station, where mysterious transaction took place between dark suited and homburg hatted gentlemen hurrying between appointments.
For convenience and efficiency the hotel met our needs.

As many people have mentioned, this is an ideal location for the train station, and it is worth going to take a look at the station even if you are not using the train, quite an impressive building. It is also possible to walk into the centre, taking about 20-30 minutes.
The location is not quite so great for cars, there is a carpark under the Radisson which is €19 per day, or you can hope to find some on-street parking, not so easy!
The hotel itself felt modern, the room was bright and fresh, and the bathroom was very clean and new looking. The breakfast buffet in the morning was good.

Be sure to visit the aquarium next to the Radisson.
