“Great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2012

Small hotel with big rooms in a great location in Den Haag. Owners are super friendly. We loved the location, great area of town with easy access to transit. The park across the street was great for our 4 year old.
Our room had private bath, something needs to be down with the shower room. After a shower, the bathroom's flooded, pretty much. This was the only drawback. We had great windows in our room and the room was large. Other family members had a nice little patio attached to their room.

Highly recommend.

“Good traditional European family run hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

Don't expect modern, glass and chrome, pool and lobby because this a normal European middle-of-the-road hotel without those kinds of amenities that suited our needs very well. Clean, well-located with friendly hosts. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Steep stairs so guests must be mobile.

“OK Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

I've stayed here 2 times and both times for just one night. It's a pretty decent hotel though a bit outdated. The owners are lovely though and their great humor and the service make up for the slightly corny interior. Rooms are quite spacious though having to walk the stairs was a bit crappy since I'm not that mobile.

“Great hotel with superb service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2012

The owners of this hotel make you feel welcome and comfortable immediately. They are a genuinely friendly and helpful couple. For a hotel in this price range, service is far better and more attentive than expected.

The location is very good, with a choice of cafes, restaurants and shops all around. An easy walk to public transport will get you to the city centre and the Peace Palace. Free parking on the surrounding streets too.

Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable, with a beautiful big window and balcony. The bathroom was spotless and the heating efficient. The breakfast is generous and hearty.

We can highly recommend this lovely hotel.

“Alternative great accommodation for the World Forum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2011

I often choose not to stay at the typical conference hotel and my visit to the World Forum this week was one of them.

I can highly recommend the family run Staten. At 57Euros per night it was very good value for money. The room was quite small, but perfectly large enough for me as I spent little time in it. Everything worked, was clean and tidy etc. I had a shared toilet with a shower in my room, but that wasn't an issue.

The local shops and bars/restaurant were very pretty and nice to browse around. There is a Chinese Restaurant opposite although I preferred to try two excellent Italian Restaurants within a few hundred metres.

My walk to the World Forum was approx 15 minutes and easy to find. When I needed a taxi reception had one for me there in less than five minutes. The couple who seemed to run the hotel were very friendly and efficient. The breakfast was typical of the area, cold meats, cheese, fruit, etc.

I would most certainly use this hotel again when in The Hague and wanting to be near the World Forum.

Tip 1: The hotel is accessed by a very simple single door next to a computer shop. It is easy to miss!

Tip 2: The main station is approx 15 mins by taxi away. Costs between 12 - 14 Euros.

Room Tip: The hotel is on three floors, which wasn't a problem for me, but with quite a narrow staircase i...
