Owner description: Escher at the Palace is dedicated to the work of Holland’s most famous graphic artist M.C. Escher. Nearly all his prints are exhibited, among them Belvedere, Drawing Hands, Waterfall and Ascending and Descending. Here you can see how Escher changed fishes into birds, made water flow upstream and his less known, but very attractive early Italian landscapes. On our main- and first floor you can see how his work progressed from depicting the real world to his constructed worlds. Optical illusion is a key word in his work.An optical illusion depicts something which is in fact impossible. M.C. Escher was a master in this field. An optical illusion literally means doing puzzles with your eyes. The visitor will be able to unravel some of Escher’s mysteries like the Impossible Penrose Triangle by constructing one himself. The extra presentation “In the Eye of Escher” shows various themes in which Escher was involved, like reflection, perception and perspective.

“Wonderful Musuem - for ALL ages”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Escher was an amazing artist. You might think you know Escher but until you visit this museum, you will not have seen the full Escher. PLUS, you get to visit the Queen Mother's Palace. The third floor is interactive - if you have children you MUST take them. They will love this.

“Fascinating, don't miss!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

The works of Escher are intriguing, sophisticated and just beautiful, offering a unique philosophic-esthetic experience to everyone, regardless of their background.
The museum itself is friendly for tourists- there are English versions of the explanation and the introductory movie.
A very refreshing alternative to "conventional" art museums!

“Small but charming museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

The museum is located in a palace, I just wish they had retained more of the original look in some rooms it was a annoying reading how it used to look and not seeing it. The crystal crowns were all different shapes, very intressting. The work of the artist was also intressting and the video informative. For kids there were also a lot of things to do.
Downstairs was a bit creepy though, it felt like going down a dungeon and the coffe shope would have benefited from outdoor seating.
