“The best park in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

All that you want in a park: nice play-garden, picknick area (both busy on a Saturday) and a nicely hidden Tea-garden which also serves a healthy meal. Only disadvantage (we find) is that they allow no dogs.

“superb park and gorgeous rose garden”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

Visit in Spring to see rhododendrons or in late Spring to Summer to see the rose garden. The park is well known for this. There are lots of roses and other plants. There are plenty of seats around the gardens so you can sit in the park and enjoy the views in the sun.

While you are there, you can have coffee in the park and look at the German bunker. Children visiting will be amused by the lilly pond in the middle of the gardens near the bunker as there are often frogs there. You can hear them croaking. There is also a little park area with swings, rounmdabouts and play areas. Adults may enjoy the pulley ride as much as children :-)

This neighbourhood of Scheveningen is really lovely. There are some huge houses and villas nearby.

One time when it is perhaps less enjoyable as a garden in which to relax is during the Parade theatre festival in Summer (June or so).

There is a Chinese restaurant in the middle of the park and a lovely little waterside cafe called De Waterkant where you can hire boats.

Take tram 9 and get off near the large church on Nieuwe Duinweg. The park can be reached easily by bicyle or is within walking distance of most parts of Scheveningen and the Archipel area.

“The best park in the Hague and maybe even the best rose garden in Europe!.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2012

The Westbroekpark is a park very close to Madurodam, it consists of four areas: A very big play field (where a lot of people play sports ranging from soccer, rugby to softball), A children's playground, a midget golf course and the Rosarium!. For me the most interesting part is the Rosarium.... the entry is for free, there are two places where you can get something to eat or drink and there are lot's of places where you can sit on benches and enjoy the peace and quiet.. Because much to my surprise it is most of the time virtually empty!.

The grass is well cut, the flower beds are well maintained and there is a lot of color to see between April and September. May and June are the top months, because it is then that the roses are in bloom... I have seen the rose gardens in Rome, but this is even nicer, even more roses, different shapes and colors.....

I have been here now five times and still I enjoy the park, even on a rainy day... if you want to relax a bit in The Hague this park is even better Clingendael (specially when you want to enjoy flowers!).

Go check it out, it is for free and if this is not of your liking it is not that far from the beach either (well a good 15 minutes walk or just take the tram!).
