“One Night Stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

Stayed the one night as the Sir Winston in Rijswijk was fully booked. Upgraded to a family room so I had a choice of beds. Room was splendid and really comfortable. It took me a while to master the temperature control in the shower but once I had this sorted, what a shower it was!
The food I had in the restaurant for dinner was exceptional, as was the service.
After dinner drinks at the bar was relaxing and I must mention Denise as she worked hard and was an excellent host. The hotel must not lose her...she is truely professional.
Will stay here again if the opportunity arises

Room Tip: Stay in the Business Rooms - great quality

We spent the Easter week end with our family (2 kids) and we found the Hotel very comfortable, staff always willing to help and very professional. All with All very good if we did not decide to try the restaurant one night and we were welcomed by a very unpleasant waiter only focused on himself and NOT on customer which should be a universally valid rule in service business... Food: tartar was excellent, the sole was not equally enjoyable (not well cooked).
Again, our week end would have scored higher had it not been for the bad service received at the Restaurant.

We just had enjoyable moment after enjoyable moment at this luxury hotel. From check in we were delighted by so many aspects of this facility. They were so welcoming when we arrived and even showed us every detail of our very sophisticated room. The room: special accommodations for our little dog - including his own bed, water & food bowls (water bowl was already filled for him!); a television that rose from the footboard; in room coffee/tea, robes, slippers, luxury bedding, wonderful decorations, ligting, body products - a great place to get a great night's sleep. The grounds are nice to walk around too. Our dinner was magnificent. Everything we ate was SO delicious, and we received the two course meal and breakfast as a part of our entire hotel price of 120 Euro. (We did pay a bit extra for pet service.)
Breakfast was a lovely European spread including made to order eggs. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a place to hide out for a night, and/or visit The Hague. Short drive to the beach. We visited the Keukenhof as a part of this trip - it's about 30 minutes away. Oh, and they even had turn down service for our dog!!!! SO cute and thoughtful. Every employee was kind and helpful.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to the third floor. It was a great room! A "DUX" room.

Fantastic hotel and very attractive pricing.

Hotel is very calm, clean and nice interior.
People at the reception (Michel, Denise and Sonia) are real professionals.
Restaurant is great. Fantastic food with great wine selection

Room Tip: Would take the room with instap shower

You will notice we've reviewed this place a couple times before & we love going back! It all began with a house hunting trip prior to our move to the Netherlands where we were introduced to Savarin..and Michel! We returned before moving into our house & again when we left our assignment in the Netherlands this last January.

Staff- We have to start with the staff, because that is what makes this place tip the 5 stars over the top. Michel is fantastic, he remembers us, even years after our first visit. He bends over backwards to make sure each guest has what they want/need to make this their home away from home. The other staff are equally enthusiastic & attentive, but we've had more experience with Michel.

Accommodations...beds are fabulous, room is warm, the bathrooms are to die for & toiletries are 5 star all the way...guys you won't leave smelling girly & girls won't mind the natural earthy scents either & there's conditioner & lotion that feels like lotion. Plenty of towels that are soft & fluffy & nice soft bed linens as well. The rooms are superbly decorated & we love staying the 4 of us in the family room.

Food...the breakfast is absolutely fantastic! It is appropriately priced for a European buffet of this quality & selection & we enjoyed it two of the mornings we were there. (mmmm I"m hungry now!) We're not big 5 star diners (although two of us ate at their restaurant once & very much enjoyed the food & ambience) so we enjoy dining in the lobby off of the 'bar menu' which has the best burger we had in Europe, lovely pastas & a great club sandwich. Their fries are fried to the perfect crispness, which can be hard to come by. We enjoy talking to Michel before & during our meal when he's not too busy answering phones or getting things ready for other customers.

Spa- well, I don't know about the spa services personally, but I do know if you want them on the weekend you've got to book in advance! Maybe that's why they don't have a 'spa menu' in the room as they're often booked! We do, however, enjoy the nice sized indoor pool with infinite swim jet & head & shoulder massage jets. Bathrobes & slippers make it easy to get out into the chilly air & back to the room without freezing in the cold Dutch winter! There are other free spa items, but we didn't indulge!

Location- it's quite a ways from Amsterdam if you're going there, but so close to the Hague & Delft. There's a tram stop nearby that can take you to Den Haag Centraal so you can get into Amsterdam (I'd much rather stay here than in Amsterdam!) & the trams can get you to the other places you want to see...including Lisse where Keukenhof will draw so many visitors each spring! I know the staff will be more than willing to help with any of this transportation information you might require.

Sure, it's pricey, but you totally get what you pay for & the quality & service will be worth the extra...you won't regret it! (and like us you'll wish you had the opportunity to come back, which seems unlikely in our case for now!)

Room Tip: There are very few rooms here, we love the family room that sleeps all 4 of us. Top floor has a few...

It is worth to go there if you read some before and you are aware what you should expect. This is nice classic but also modern but rather small hotel. The rooms and the lobby area are very well decorated.Spa is not too big and special but there is a very nice part outside the building.Well the only inconvenience of this is.. the surroundings of the hotel. It is near by the rush street and you may see and hear the trams when you try to relax outside. And this is the "surprice" which you should expect, because apart of that the stuff is very nice and professional, the food is very good, the room is sophisticated and once again only the view from the window for the wall was the only bad impression. The bed was grat and very comfortable. The only problem was tv- it is complicated if you want to watch something or just listen to the radio. The bathroom is very well equiped, clean and it is very warm in all the hotel. Important information is that you shoud wear swiming suits in spa area. The massage was a little bit too quick and short and not so great as it could be. Nice touch -they have little melex in front of the reception and if it is raining and you have to go to restaurant, which is in another building they give you a lift eventhoug it is only 100 meters :) I think they are good 4* hotel. We enjoy the stay very much. Specially if you can pay half a price and don't watch around- just focus on nice interior ;)

The hotel officially has five stars. In reality, the rooms are very small, the wifi is extremely slow, the place ist not really clean, some appliances and fixtures were broken (e.g. a ceiling spot light hung from its wire out of the ceiling). The worst was the fresh from bed owner? in a bathrobe and his shabby 50kg dog manning the reception at 7.30 in the morning. This hotel is definitely not worth 159eur per night.
