“Great atmosphere let down by Bed Bugs!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

Great location near the beach and the tram line into town, staff are very friendly, great atmosphere. Shame there was a serious bed bug problem in the dorm room that the owner knows about but isn't doing anything to fix. Other than that a good hostel.

Stay'd there 3 nights. 24 euros for a dorm with 24 people is clearly overpriced. The staff was friendly with you all the time, but ironically mock you behind you back, thinking that I don't understand what they were saing. The owner walking around 7 o clock in the morning, all rashed up and coke(or whetever) dripping out of hiw nose, offering me a whisky straight outta bottle.
Don't put your money in this hostel.

I spent a night here with my colleagues whilst staying in the Hague. They had a really nice chill out area outside where you can hang out with your friends and have a chat. There was a fireplace on the table which was welcome as the weather wasn't that great. The bar was nice too and there was lots of space around to relax so you didn't have to be in your room the whole time.

The dorm room was okay, but it got so hot in the night that I kept waking up. It was a comfortable bed though, could just do with some aircon - or sheets instead of thick duvets in the summer.

I have a fantastic time at Jorplace, I stay for 5 nights and I enjoy everything. The staff (even when no working) always help and very friendly, always come and talk if you are alone. They are international so always try to speak with you in your language (francais, espagnol, allemand) Breakfast is include in price of the room, even at week ends (until 9.30) so comment about 12 euros extra... is b**s**t.

Cool surf vibe and great persons!

I stayed here for one night and really enjoyed it. The staff (especially Matt) was extremely friendly and helpful.
I was in a hurry when I checked in and they really tried to help me asap. If you want to use the lockers, you can bring your own locks, which I didn't. There should be some locks for sale at the reception, but the guy couldn't find them so he offered to keep an eye on my laptop and store my laptop in the office for the evening. He shouldn't have done that, but he did so didn't have to leave it unattended. He waited until I arrived back in the hostel (after midnight!).
I stayed in the 24-bed room, with about 8 people sleeping there, so it was pretty quiet. Bed was OK, the room was very clean. Breakfast was OK too. Nice atmosphere, easy to meet other people. I enjoyed my stay!

24 people to a room and you're still being charged 24 euros a night on a fri/sat, absolutely freaken absurd. I do not care if it is less than a mile to the beach, you could have better stay on the beach in a tent. The staff were unhelpful and rude. I came down to for breakfast which is an extra 12 euros (i think around there) and it was a few kinds of meats and cheeses and you asked for bread, or for milk. Didn't know that breakfast ended at 930, and at 940 they refused to give me milk for cereal, but said i could buy it. better off buying your own breakfast at Albert Heijn. Now I didn't choose this hostel, I am studying abroad in Amsterdam and it was part of a group activity through my program, but they will also be hearing about how miserable the place was. Save your 24 euros and get a budget hotel - it's much more worth it. or just a spend one day there instead. these people do NOT deserve your money.

It's a nice place to go for a short stay, but if you stay longer you have to put up with the owner, even as a quest, not a worker. The owned thinks he can kick out people from his hostel in the middle of the night with any accusations. Always on coke, shouting angry verbal stuff to anyone whos near him at the wrong time. The hostel is little a like, with the movie "The Beach". Seems really nice and perfect from the outside, but once your in, it is different story. My advice - super chillout place to stay for some nights. Not a good idea if you want to stay longer and keep your privacy. Be prepared to be very sociable with the owner. If you don't smile to everybody and chit chat, the coked up paranoid owner wants you out. And he does everything he needs to achieve it - lie, manipulate, humiliate publicly, humiliate himself publicly by being a drunk unpredictable cokehead.
The quest kitchen is really good and a good priced grocary store is just nextdoors.
