It’s been thirty years since the first time I had dinner at “The Pijp,” and the multitude of times I've had dinner, or had a drink there since then has always been memorable, and I always wear my tie that I was given years ago. The food is excellent (especially the lamb), and the locals that frequent The Pijp are a mix of ages from young college kids to the older retirees, and have been going there for years. I enjoy listening to the old timers, and the waiters recounting stories from the WWII days, and the roll the Pijp played with downed allied flight crews while the German occupying forces dined at the restaurant. The food is great, the staff is very professional, but the patrons are the main reason I keep going back year after year after year. If you’re looking for a nice quiet place for a romantic Dutch meal this is not the place for you, but if you’re looking to have some fun, make new friends while enjoying expertly prepared Dutch food Bierhandel De Pijp is a place you won’t want to miss.
