“Gaffel delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

I've been going there for 25 years, and it hasn't changed, and i am sure it will not change for the next 25 years.

You have to be hungary - All the food is great - If the month is right, you should try the mussels (mossellen), or smoked eel, the french onion soup is good - then any steak, or gestoofte rindflesche met rode kool - the tong (sole filet is very good) Finish with an ijs packett speciale.

I am told the wine offered is very good, but to be honest I only drink the beer

“Great atmosphere. Good food. Not great for vegetarians.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013 via mobile

Really nice restaurant. Completely different to how it looks from the outside! Very friendly service from our kind waiter, who took the time to explain the menu to us.
A good selection of meat and fish/seafood dishes. Mains are around 20 euros. A very homely feel, nice to see the open kitchen. Recommend!

“Excellent food and informal dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

The atmosphere is informal but pretty dark and not very stylish. same for the restaurant exterior appearance and entrance in a residential neighborhood side street. No linen tablecloths here and guests are put together on large tables. I like this kind of atmosphere and the food is excellent which is where my 5-star rating comes from, but this kind of dining atmosphere is not for everyone. The tiny kitchen is open so you can see how your food is being treated. Cooks and waiters are all students or at least that age, but they know what they are doing and the overall result is a very good and interesting experience. I left this place with a nicely filled stomach.

“Good food and great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

I was in Rotterdam for one cold night alone when travelling on business and was looking for somewhere to eat and De Pijp was just what I needed. The description on Trip Advisor was accurate, this is a cosy quirky place, with mainly male customers. But is was very friendly, the service was helpful and the waiters spoke very good interest. I was seated close to the open kitchen area to make me feel involved and this was great. The food was good (I ate seafood) and the small wine list was good too. It was not cheap, but was good value.
