“Great and bizarre hostel, but nice location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

I ended up doing the tour of Holland in Rotterdam and without having booked any Hotel, after a short bike ride I noticed this unusual cubic structure from afar.
I must admit that aesthetically it's really bizarre.
Fortunately at that time there was availability and I opted for a double room.
The exterior of the hotel is great, it overlooks the river's edge, here in the evening is literally surrounded by pubs, a young and worm atmosphere.
The room prices were quite high, the room was small, of course I slept in one of those giant room cubes.
The room is bare, 4 walls and two single beds, stop, nothing else.
The hostel is really huge, the rooms are too many and as a result it is very crowded.
The thing that I liked best was the breakfast the next morning free buffet, I have never eaten so much in my life for breakfast, rich and wide choice.
All in all it was a great experience, I recommend it.

You do not want to stay in another hostel, but stay okay, its slap-bang in the middle of the action, Best night club -VIE- just in front!
Good hostel, clean rooms, small mirrors, and sore neck from slanted walls.
great staff, made friends with all of them playing WII at night!!! got an amazing deal for a week too.
TRY THE CHERRY BEER at the bar, best thing you find in Netherlands !!!!

The hostel has good location, very nice and friendly staff. It has fantastic view on their public balcony. The breakfast is fair. WiFi available in the lobby. But the room is small, lack of facilities.

I have stayed one night with 2 friends in the hostel. The room would fit for persons with a physical handicap, especially the bathroom. We didn't like the room but the location was great. The breakfast was okay.

The hostel is great, it's in a fantastic location, right next to Blaak station, and a great architectural site. You get to sleep in one of the famous cubes. However, I thought the rooms could have been a tad warmer. We adjusted heating to maximum possible and felt cold.

The rooms of "Stayokay" Rotterdam lie inside the famous building of the "Cube houses" by Piet Blom, and this is a first good reason to try the experience of going to bed in a cubic room, with sidelong walls. A little dizziness is granted.
The service is good, the place is quite small but this improves the possibility to share the holiday with other travellers and know the other guests. A piece which I personally take in great regard: a book which stores all contributions (signatures, greetings, thoughts, drawings,...) by the guests of the hostel.
Staff is available and patient for explanation; bike rent in the hostel, maps of the city available.
The place is next to Blaak station, so one minute walk; near, on the bay of the White House, I suggest a good place where to eat: the pub on the left, which allows you to have dinner looking upon the water.

Stayokay looks great from the outside, the cube houses are very cool. It was easy enough to get to and in a decent location, right next to the Blaak staion. Reasonable walking distance to a supermarket, shopping strip, and city centre. Inside was very neat and clean, but didn't have a lot of personality. The staff were efficient but not particularly friendly. The bed was comfortable enough, and it was great to have a powerpoint and light at each bed, as well as wifi in the room. Note that you will need to pay extra if you want your bed made up for you, and you are not allowed to bring your own food to the hostel. OK for a night or two, but eating out for every meal could get expensive over a longer stay! Breakfast was included though, and there was a decent selection of breads, cereals, fruit, drinks and assorted other things. I'd stay again if it was only for a couple of nights, but otherwise would look for somewhere with a bit more character.
