“Not quite shipshape, but good spot”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2014

It pays to read everything before pressing the booking key. I didn't quite read the fine print, but no matter, this place has the location for the price & an OK bar too. My room was just for me, which is just as well, as another person there would've been impossible. Shared WC & shower with 4 other rooms, the view was not of the river & Erasmus Bridge that everyone (quite rightly) raves about, but the building next door & shared car park. However, the bar has people in it as I think this place is used by seafarers about to catch a ship & others who want a cheap value-for-money place. Maritime memorabilia throughout - so you know you are in Europe's biggest port city. Breakfast was fine too, but not much hot food, but the coffee & fresh bread were great - the smell alone is enough. But the dining room has no windows & hence no view. The bar is also on the wrong side at the back, unlike the Tulip Inn adjacent which has it on the river side. Whereas MH has a sitting area - a waste of an opportunity surely? Ditto the huge area between the bar & reception/waiting, much ado about nothing here. But it is by the river, nearby some nice spots such as the maritime musuem at thje old harbour museum, yacht club marina full of old boats, the #7 tram terminus is outside, which goes to the 'hot spots' & terminates at the central station. So as many say, if you just slepp there it's good. If you pay up & get a river view room, it must be great. But not cheap.

Room Tip: IF you want a room with a view, you must book that & pay for it. Probably worth it though.

A sunrise and a breathtaking view with the bridge at Rotterdam.
What can be better view if this is the first thing you see from the hotel window when you wake up? That's why I love it here. The breakfast served with variety choice.

I stayed here for 1 night while on business in Rotterdam, and could not fault the location of the hotel for its views -.t is right on the riverside by the spectacular Erasmus bridge. It is roughly a 10-15 minute walk from the thriving pubs/restaurants/shops in the centrum. The room was a bit small and basic, but comfy enough for me to sleep in for one night. Staff were friendly, and I didn't get chance to try the restaurant/breakfast facilities.

Only stayed 1 night at this hotel, when i booked it i was impressed with the river and Erasmus bridge view through the window, unfortunately we didn't get it eben tho i mentioned it in the booking comments, but we were to tired after traveling to ask for a change. Room was nice and clean, had a tv, shower/toilet. It's in a good area, walking distance to city center. There is a ar park near by for 17euros for 24h, o u can park on the streets for 3euru/h, some streets offer free parking from 23h-9 others 18h-9am. Breakfast was continental, but very nice, big choice of cereals, cheeses, meats. We even made ourselves a roll to take out ! We paid 60euros for a night wich i think it's good for two people with breakfasts.

The Maritime Hotel (Zeemanshuis) is right on the banks of the River Maas in Central Rotterdam.
If you love ships, this is the place for you. It's comfortable, convenient and inexpensive for the Single traveller. Barges and tugs pass by, all day long. Coasters are quite frequently to be seen. In Summer, there's every chance of a Cruise Liner berthing just opposite too.

It's easy to get to Maritime Hotel. Tram line 7 from the railway station terminates at the hotel. AND the waterbus service to Dordrecht AND the famous "SPIDO" harbour cruises sail from the quay outside the hotel. The Maritime Museum at Leuvehaven is 7 minutes' walk away too.

The Breakfast Room/Restaurant and the Bar are adorned with Ship Models in glass cases - and there are wall-to-wall Ship Photographs of the Dutch Merchant Fleet.

I love this hotel. I've stayed here 5 times in the last 10 years. If Ships are your passion, give this place your consideration!

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking the river. I was in 406.

I stayed for 7 days late July 2014 - and agree with others: perfectly adequate for a couple of nights, and I felt safe as a lone traveller. If staying longer than a couple of days, I'd pay extra somewhere else for the extras: more room in rooms, a fridge, wider variety for breakfast (and beyond 9:30am weekdays), and less noise from slamming of doors from other guest rooms (making the whole floor shudder). I had a smoker in the next (non-smoking room), and it came straight through my window - which I didn't want to shut because it was so hot and there was no air-conditioning. Aside from that, great view and location - I walked everywhere unless going for day trips beyond the city. Service is polite and helpful. Caught a taxi to and from the airport - a bit too much by public transport if lugging some heavy and multiple luggage around.

Room Tip: I wouldn't ask for the very top floor during summer - the rooms heat up and stay that way -perha...

I stayed in this hotel for one night in June 2014 and was quite happy with my stay. For the price you can't expect a lot more. The location is excellent being only a short walk into the city centre. The hotel is also a seaman's mission so has facilities for sailors as well as a small room for religious services in the foyer
