If you want to sleep somewhere in Rotterdam, it's better to look for another place : "that" place called hotel (what do Dutch authorities think of it ? it should be closed) is awful, nosy, bad-smelling. The furniture are sticking, the cabins are so small and so dirty..., the bath-rooms are out of order (no shower or cold water), the sheets aren't so clean too. And around, a big tower is just being built upside the boat : the works are terrific. It's no use to write more : don't mind one second to sleep there... I did because I did not know. You know, now !

This place is such a low standard it should not be advertised. No hygiene - the toilet did not flush, do not even think of sheets or towel, after a while you do not want to touch anything, just run. They preempt your disbelief / indignation with their own insult: you are greeted by the smell that will land you in jail anywhere else, growling dogs, growling people, any questions / objections you might have - keep them to yourself; it's they who roll their eyes at your stupidity / naivete. They want your passport (in case, they do not trust you); you have an eerie feeling they are ready to jump - to protect the boat from you, no doubt. These folks' hotelier enterprise keeps them from a life of active crime - maybe good piece of Dutch ethnography for those desperate not to sleep on a bench / young / adventurous / not caring, i.e without any expectations / or simply uninformed. The fact that people do come to The Clipper is probably the biggest business stunt they pull.

Our experience staying in hostelboat the Clipper was not satisfactory for several reasons:

- The room was really cold and the heater was broken or it was switched off. It was impossible to connect...
- The blanket of the bed was not sufficient and we had to take another blanket of another room that we found empty and opened (thankfully). In spite of it we slept with many clothes to bear the cold.
- We did not find any comfort nor complement in the room: towels, soap, coat rack, dryer for hair, etc...
- We didn´t find anybody to ask for anything. It happened at 22:30 PM...
- One of the bathrooms was damaged for time and it was necessary to share an alone bater for all the rooms. For limit, the window of the bath was broken and the bater was getting wet with the rain. Cold also was troublesome in the bathroom...
- I prefer not to describe the unique shower that exists for all the rooms. Your must be brave to use it!
- The breakfast was accumulated in a table. The majority of the food were used or there was few quantity (for example, the milk). Also had nobody to be able to ask for nothing.

We never did not have sensation of being welcome in hostelboat the Clipper. We have never writen complains but, in this case, we have to leave witness. We believe that it is the just thing.

Where do I start. First of all we arrived and there was no one there to let us on the boat. After waiting half an hour they arrived to let us in where upon we were greeted by three big smelly dogs. Once we had loaded our bags onto the boat the owner then told us that the 2 nights we had booked in advance was now 1 night as the boat needed spraying for something or other (more like fumigating). The owner said that we shouldn't worry as he would find us somewhere to stay the following night. At first I was a little angry that they had to cancel 1 night of our stay but once we saw and smelt where we would be sleeping this suddenly turned into a blessing in disguise. He then told us that our room wouldn't be ready for another hour and that if we left our bags he would put them in our room. We decided to go out for some lunch as we had been travelling all day and returned to the boat about 2-3 hours later. Our room was still not ready and our bags were still in the same place. They finally shoved us into a room, well if you could call it that, more like a dog kennel! There was also no mention of where we would go the following night. Needless to say we got changed and went straight out. We returned to the boat, not nearly drunk enough to block any of it out. Once I had finally fell asleep I awoke at 6am after about 4 hours on a damp, dog smelling matress, covered in bites. I got up, packed my things and left. The Clipper is the most rancid hostel you could ever stay in. I thought it would be cool to stay on a boat. It was just disgusting, please don't put yourself through this.

Sincerely, I want to be very honest, this hostel is to expensive for the rooms that it has....I couldn't believe it when I arrived, three dogs inside a little boat, the owners not sympathetic at all. the toilet, broken the shower....my god, the shower is really a container of metal with a shower. I don't recomend it at all, there are a lot of little hotels and hostels in Rotterdam that are not shown in internet, better and cheaper.
