“Cheap and okay hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

This hotel doesn't have the best location in Rotterdam but it has good value. There is nothing special about the rooms but the service is very good. The employees were quite helpful and friendly.

The breakfast was pretty good but it took the employees a long time to refill the cheese (a large group of egyptians kept eating the cheese)

I like this budget hotel. Has everything you need, only a 5min walk from the train station.

Had a not so great breakfast here once, so now I book without.

Street side rooms are bit noisy, rooms are compact (but for the price very good).

Spend the money you save on a hotel on a nice meal, Rotterdam has plenty of good options :)

This 4 star hotel is nicely located within reasonable walking distance from central station but make sure (as I did) that you are getting 4 star standards as they have rooms waiting to be decorated (they refer to as basic ircstandard) which would not get 4 stars! Breakfast buffet great but staff a bit slap dash. Fruit juice machine keeps packing up!

I guess I got thrown off when reserving a Superior Single Room. Superior generally means renovated and my superior (562) is definitely not renovated. In fact, after entering the room I thought that the management had made a mistake. So, I called down and said "I have reserved a superior room, are you sure that is what you gave me, because it looks pretty basic?" They said, yes it is a superior. I said, " so what is the basic like?" "Smaller and it faces onto the main street so it is noisier. Hmmm...well this superior is pretty small and it faces onto a kind of sad looking courtyard.

But what is worse than the room is the neighborhood it is in. I thought it was close to the train station so I expected at least to find several restaurants near the hotel. In fact, it is not that close and there are very, very few restaurants. If you are walking here from the train station, look at the Turkish Restaurant "Dunya Lokanta". That is probably your best option near the hotel, other than the Hotel Brasserie. The hotel is located in a kind of run down residential neighborhood with almost nothing nearby. I asked at the reception desk for a restaurant suggestion and they mentioned a take away pizza place and the Dunya Lokanta.

While the price is good, on the date I came, I could have stayed in some 5 star hotels for about 20 euros more than I paid for my "Superior Room".

I wish I had.

Room Tip: Unless you are on a tight budget, choose a room in a different hotel.

This is not a bad hotel, some reviewers have likened it to a Youth Hostel but, having just stayed in one of those also, I can tell you it is certainly better than that!

It is true the decor is dated and, as a whole, the hotel isn't pretty to look at (the breakfast room is particularly gloomy but the food is ok), and it's not got any extra frills, but the room was clean and the location is really great, we could walk everywhere from here.

The reception staff were always friendly and very helpful which always makes a huge difference. I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget looking for a centrally located hotel in Rotterdam.

First trip to Rotterdam. I booked this hotel through the net, so you are not always sure about what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised with the value that came with the price. Large room (by European standards), comfy large bed, desk, two chairs and lots of hot water for showers. Breakfast was included in the price and was fairly typical euro fare. A plus was having the #25 tram line just down the street that took us to Centraal and anywhere we wanted to go via tram or metro. The staff was most accomdating on a booking error and very friendly in making restaurant reservations, directions and such. I would stay at this hotel again, to be sure.

The hotel seemed to be half-way through a renovation. Some areas looked great, but others were pretty run-down, like the room we stayed in. Some water damage and damaged fittings in the room. The bed-linen and shower were clean, though, so that was OK.
We only stayed one night, and it worked well for that, but I wouldn't necessarily want to stay in that room for a long time.
Great breakfast - the dining room is one of the newly-renovated areas.

It's conveniently located very close to the main station.

Room Tip: Try to find out whether the rooms have all been renovated by now or not.
