“Amongst the best in town!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Yes location is not perfect, off-centre; however bus 77 offers connections from doorstep to metro and Zuidplein/Ahoy area. And experience can be a bit crammed due to the ship corridor system with several decks.
But hey, WHAT you get back in turn! Nice quiet area, with the wind blowing around the decks. Superior rooms ('outer cabin', with small windows) are almost suite-like in size while the special-offer price we got was more for a 3-star hotel. Beds, TV, coffee/tea making (Senseo), bathroom - all totally worth the 4-star classification. And so was the included luxury b'fast buffet, with e.g. four types of prepared egg and other American-style hot foods and fruits. Friendly staff, which is helpful especially at the start as it's easy to get lost in the myriad of decks and rooms. Nice promenade deck to restaurants and even a souvenir shop - a living monument to stay in for the night, what more would you want?

Room Tip: Rooms with windows (Superior), otherwise probably it feels a bit crammed

I visited this hotel on business. The concept of turning a former liner into a hotel leads to an interesting place to stay in a pretty average city.
The cabins are almost unchanged from it's liner days, so they are quite compact and old-fashoined, but I suppose that is part of the attraction.
The staff were attentive and the food was good.
More interesting than luxurious.

On a business trip to Holland, four couples stayed for two nights on board the SS Rotterdam, which has been converted at great expense into a stationary hotel and restaurant. The natural ambiance of a ship remains, but there are none of the negatives experienced on the high seas. In the 1950's our family company imported ink from Holland, much of which travelled on this ship. It is a sentimental journey for us to be here now.
We are being treated with utmost courtesy by a very friendly staff, and the rates at this time are quite reasonable. The food was delicious, the beds clean and fresh, bathroom in fine shape, and we have nothing but good to say about our stay here.
For anyone coming into this area, this is a good choice. Once is only a short distance from numerous attractions, and harbor cruises run on schedule daily.
THIS ONE GETS A TOP NOTCH RATING, AND WE EXTEND MANY THANKS TO THE CREW AND STAFF.

Room Tip: TThe rooms we stayed in on deck A were spacious and easily accessible. We upgraded to superior rooms...

Stayed one night in the hotel on the former Holland America Cruiseship the SS Rotterdam. This ship is now moored in the Rotterdam harbour and cannot sail anymore. But it was renovated into a luxury hotel with restaurants, bar, meeting rooms, theater, etc. We stayed one night after haqving had dinner with friends in the restaurant. The room (a suite) was comfortabel and in the style of the late fifties, the time the ship was built. It is a nice experience to do this once just for fun. Of coourse for the late fifties this was a luxury liner, now it would not meet those standards looking at the luxury cruiseships of today. But that's what makes it unique and interesting.

Room Tip: satying in a suite is not much more in euros, but a lot more comfy.

We stayed this weekend with the family on the SS Rotterdam. The hotel is in the old renovated rooms of the former cruise ship. It's a real nice atmosphere. It looks like you are back in the sixties. The rooms were spacious; with a flat screen TV, good beds and a bathroom. There are clean and good.

The reception is good and helpful. We stayed for the weekend and it is not at the best location for visiting Rotterdam. I would recommend staying here for one night and not the whole weekend. If you like to go to the city. You can use the shuttle service. This was only between 16:30 and 19:00. Other ways off entering the city are: bus, taxi or water taxi. We used all three. The water taxi is fun, but we were also left standing for nothing even with reservations. This was a bit unfortunate.

The hotel has a nice restaurant and a great deck to sit in the sun.
The hotel itself doesn't have any extras for the hotel guests, like a real swimming pool, fitness center.

A must do is the tour. There are a lot of volunteers working on the ship and they take you back into the 60's including great stories they have experienced firsthand. They really make the tour fantastic and it's great to hear their stories.

Staying at a Cruise ship has something magical to it. Well, a stay at the Cruise hotel Rotterdam is certainly a great experience.
After checking in, the walk to your room, using the big stairs and the small hallways starts off the experience in a special way.
The rooms are the double size of the original cabins, which is big enough. Rooms have their own "theme" which is nice if you should go there more than once. Beds are good and bathroom has everything you need.
I visited the Oyster bar when there was live music playing - it was maybe a bit loud, but still OK.
