“Outstanding small boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a trip to see the Keukenhof gardens (only15mins by car away). Tucked away in an upmarket suburb of Leiden if is relaxed and quiet with a lovely garden to stroll around. All bedrooms are different but we stayed in the Crows Nest suite right at the top of the hotel. Very steep stairs so beware! But what an unusual place to stay in. Outstanding cooking, wines and service. My vegetarian wife was very well looked after. I had told the hotel on booking that my wife is vegetarian and as soon as we sat down to dinner the maître d came across and in impeccable English went though all the vegetarian options for her - now that's service! Friendly smiles everywhere and excellent breakfast. Quirky but excellent room with one small niggle - the control panel for the lights - impossible to operate in the dark but you might get used to it after a few nights! Overall an outstanding hotel

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor have very steep stairs

Perfect for a wedding reception. Stayed with a group of friends years ago. Unique, vintage rooms - magical atmosphere, fantastic food!!! Definitely recommend for a small family venue. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at.

Our family of 4 (2 grown sons) stayed at the Hotel De Beukenhof for 2 nights recently. We requested an apartment which is adjacent to the hotel. It more then met our expectations. Perfect in everyway. Funky, bright, large, plush. Enough beds to spread out. Even though we only stayed 2 nights we made good use of the washer/dryer. We relaxed and laughed around the large table. The beds were so comfortable we thought we would never leave. The hotel staff was discreet and helpful. We opted for breakfast and found the whole experience pleasant and first rate. If we could have stayed longer we would have. Please treat yourself.

We had a nice stay in this beautiful hotel in Leiden. It's in an old building and beautifully restored. Everybody was nice and helpful. Although it was very noisy sometimes, we enjoyed our stay and we will come back.

We visited Beukenhof last week and we stayed two nights in the Zoldersuite. When we arrived, we were told that the airconditioning was't working very well in the room and that we could stay in another suite if we want. We refused the offer because we booked it especially for the jacuzzi tub.

Rooms: Absolutely luxurious. We got two televisions, one in the bedroom, one in the bathroom, a very expensive and tastefull coffeemachine (with real coffee beans), very comfi bed, high pressure rain shower, jacuzzi tub, ...

Location: not far (3 km) from the city centre of Leiden, which is a very nice town to visit. A lot of canals and cosy terraces. The hotel itself is located in a kind of park with a lot of trees. What you have to try is to eat outside. We got our breakfast and dinner served outside.

Breakfast: not a buffet but everything is brought to your table. Fresh orange juice, a basket with different kind of bread including croissants, four kinds of meat, two kinds of cheese, yoghurt, fresh fruit, coffee or tea, three kinds of marmelade, a soft boiled egg, ... if you want more, just ask and the staff will get it for you.

Staff: very helpfull and very friendly people. You really can see that the staff is happy to work there.

WIFI: Free to use and we had a perfect signal in our room.

This hotel operates more like a B&B than a hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Happy people. Dinner was outstanding. Dining room is formal but allows guest to dress casual.
We stayed in the Schouwsuite.. We did not see the other rooms but this has to be the best. Enough space for a fold out bed for our grand daughter.

Please note that the stairs up to loft bedroom are very steep. Use caution. Not suitable for young kids etc.

The location is perfect and close to Lieden. Shops are close by.

In general this hotel is high on our list .

This has been our second visit to De Beukenhof and this time was as good as previously. It has a lovely atmosphere – it manages to be elegant, cosy, intimate and welcoming plus it has lovely gardens so that you can dine outside when the weather allows.

Such a shame that the owner is trying to sell off part of the land (the car park I think) so that three houses can be built.

On both occasions we have stayed in the Wijnkelder Suite and have been very happy and comfortable in there. There are some nice shops just out of the hotel doors in Oegstgeest as well as places to eat. Do eat in the hotel however at least one night as the food is amazing as are the breakfasts – a true banquet to start the day off perfectly.

We are returning again at the beginning of August and are really looking forward to it.
